It's done - she is enroute to the crematorium.

  • Just catching up on this ...... what a terrible situation to be in.:(

I do think you've made the right decision though and hope this afternoon hasn't been too horrendous.

Poor lovely, I am in tears reading how she passed - very, very sad but glad she went peacefully, right where she belonged, next to you.

I've had (and do) have many pets, all are adored and I've (and will always be) heartbroken when one goes .... however, Ben is my "one" and absolutely dreading it.

I really hope you're OK and please try not to dwell on today too much - she'll be home safe with you very soon.:grouphug:

Well done tankgirl...I know it took a lot of courage for you to get to this point. You will feel a bit better when she is back with you.

Thankyou for all the replies and support, it really did help me to make the decision today, and I appreciate it.

It actually wasn't as horrific as I had anticipated. I used a company who I had worked with in a local practice(I am a vet nurse), and the chap they sent out was the regular driver, who I knew, and who I trusted, knowing that he would do the job and treat her remains with respect - which he did, and I think that took a huge amount of worry and stress away about the practicalities of it iyswim?

I was there, I didn't look when he lifted her out and put her in a bodybag, but afterwards I did have a few minutes with her. Then I helped him load her onto the van, and it was done. She is being individually cremated, and should be home by weekend.

I'm glad its done - I feel better for it, and just want to get her back home now.
