Big Issue sellers & intimidation tactics.A rant!

When i worked in Manchester center there was one in particular I walked past every day who was always smiling, always friendly and just a generally nice bloke. I used to give him £20 when I got paid and would have a chat to him most nights. I've since looked for him and haven't seen him for at least 3years so I hope he managed to properly get back on his feet, would love to meet him again.
You gave him £20! I think that people in this country really need to stop bottling their emotions up inside, running away scared when some obvious illegal immigrant kid goes begging for money rather than looking disdsinfully at them and telling them to !!!! off. I think it would be a much better place if people just said what they really think.0 -
I remember once, as a very naive 17 year old a particular beggar/big issue seller on my way to work. I didn't earn alot, the money i got all went to my grandparents who were caring for me at the time. Anyway, this poor chap had a sign saying how hungry he was, so one morning I gave him all my lunch for that day, knowing that i could do without. He took one look at it and said I don't like sandwiches, can I have something from Greggs instead. Well I was heartbroken, not only had I no money to get myself anything else, much less for him, I felt so embarrassed. I've never given anything to a begger ever since.July Win: Nokia 58000

Our "local" (born and bred round here he wasn't!) BI seller waits right by the trolleys at the small supermarket and sticks his hand out when you get your purse out for the £1 for the slot. Not so bad when your young and can tell him to b*gger off but we have a high population of OAPs in the area that find it intimidating.0

when we have british people that are struggling financially it really is shocking that we allow east european beggars into the country

coming over here, selling our big issue, taking our prime begging hotspots away from honest, hard-working british beggars. it's enough to make you puke.
(i didn't realise i'd gone to the daily mail forum)helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
at christmas a BI seller walked up to me and asked if I wanted one, I said no thanks but then he blocked my path and said "oh come on love its a bargain only £2" then he shoved one in my bag (I had a open style shoulder bag" proclaiming how great it was. I was so shocked I just gave him the money so he'd leave me alone, but did so begrudginly wondering why I hadnt chucked it back at him!0

I love the one in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. If you live round these parts you know who I mean.... he is the only seller I have ever come across who can make 'Big Issue' sound like 'Shit baaaaaaag'. It is hilariously funny and I can't walk past him, I have to detour because he makes me laugh so much.
DS has spoken to him before and reckons he catches the train down here from Manchester every day!0 -
The one we have in lancaster catches the train to get here. We used to have a few but theres only one now.
Ive been followed by the nottingham ones who wouldnt take no for an answer but they followed me too far as there are a number of police officers patrolling the street and i reported them for harassment and the police noted down their IDs and gave them warnings that they would recieve fixed penaltys if they were reported again (i do give to charity including homeless charitys but i wont give to BI not since a friend of mine bought one a packet of 20 cigarettes and then recieved a load of abuse as it wasnt a multipack!) some days in the town centre there is at least 2 per street (I have seen 8 on the same part of the street before)
They should learn to be greatful or what they get! Beggars cant be choosers and not everyone can afford to donate to everything!
And I never donate to anything where they are pushy and ungreatful0 -

Well that's my laugh for the day.
Well we have a foreign one in our town centre who has Gold Teeth, a small pedigree dog (what probaly cost about £1000.00), and he also has cesar dog food to feed the dog with.0 -
Chichester is strictly Albanian for BI sellers its seems.
