It was getting tough in 2006 and the workhouse still threatens us in 2011

Drat, outclassed once again; only 2 kilos here. Am not a big rice eater. I'm smiling to imagine the size of the sleeve required..........
Re the ISBNs throwing up different titles.....I wonder if this could be the reason; is it an old title, eg pre early 1970s? If so, there was a predecessor to the ISBN the SBN (standard book number) and it is just about possible one if for an older pre-ISBN title?
Ah, will investigate more if that could be the case. Thanks.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
drat - I had 25kg of basmati - but down to the last 5!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Kittie - I prefer loose leaf tea and must invest in a cup infuser. I get mine from b&m - 39p a packet for normal or earl grey (I may or may not have several packets held back for poker)
I have the beans to make baken beans and keep meaning to pick up a smoked ham hock to put in with them.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Hugs Rosanna, and what a lovely post Nualabuala. I am so gladdened by the empathy shown on here.
Grandma247 - hope you're ok after the accident! I think the others are right and you should get checked over to be on the safe side. Take good care of yourself. x
jfdi - that's great news about yoru OH's appeal! :j It must be a weight off your minds.
GQ - your posts are amazing - you crack me up (but you make good points too!)
I've got the same as Mardatha - a wet Sunday. But I don't mind it really - that mini-heatwave was too hot for me and this feels more normal. Yesterday we had torrential downpours and today it's back to piddly rain. So my plan is to knit, perhaps make weetabix cake (and eat it!) and watch rubbishy telly.
I'm a bit annoyed as a jar jumped out of the cupboard and broke my teapot and a dish that had held pate that I used to put old teabags in. I thought of gluing the teapot back together but I don't trust that the glue would be food safe and the hot water would leach lots of nasties. The lid and rim is fine but there is a big chunk out of the "belly" of the pot. So I am trying to think of something useful to do with it - perhaps as a plant pot with herbs or something spillng out?
I'm very impressed with all the stashes being bet in (Non)Food Poker - the stakes are too high for me so I will just be a spectator! Who is in the lead with tinned tomatoes?
Hope you're all ok - sending big hugs to anyone who'd like one. Have a great Sunday!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Softstuff, if you're still awake down in Oz, just had a quick word with my brother; he asks if you're looking on Amazon? Reasoning being that there is often a mismash with them between ISBNs. He's a happy bunny; just sold a book bought for 30p at a bootfair a few weeks ago for £600 to a professor at an English university....shouldn't be allowed!
You apparently convert a SBN to an ISBN by bunging a zero on the front, for anyone who'd like to know that.
Well, the fruit (plums and pears in together) is now officially stewed and can cool down on the stove. I have folded last night's laundry and the ironing is reserved for 2 work blouses and a wee hankie. It's truly amazing how little ironing you can get away with if you apply your iniative. Why, but for my job, I might be able to skive off it altogether........:rotfl:
Oh, I made a pondlet out of a shallow plastic bowl which I set down into the soil and surrounded it with more stones and added a coupla biggies to serve as islands. Filled it with water and await tenants. Ate one more strawberry and did quite a bit of tidying up. Am having to retrieve the milk bottle watering points from the soil and wash them to save for next year.
Gotta go, promised myself I'd iron before doing more idling around on the interweb......got to keep an eye on those minimalists; you have no idea what they'll chuck out if not closely watched.;)Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Still warm here but wet and miserable - my fault I promised kids I would get the paddling pool out today!!
Have managed to get out to the shed and do a little reorganisation and have managed to fit three adult bikes in and two kids bikes - OH said there was no space at all - typical male.
Am constantly exhausted lately and no matter what I do I find that after 2.00pm I am dropping - its so irritating.0 -
Am I alone in my anger at the attitude and actions of Asda? (I abhor alliteration!)
Asda weren't wanted in this town but they muscled their way in anyway. Still, I continued to drive past their huge new store to do my shopping at Netto, which was much cheaper. Till Asda bought out and destroyed Netto.
Well if they think I'll be spending my money at Asda . . . I'd rather starve.
Anyway, there's a little Co-op five minutes walk away, nearer but dearer. But I AM SO MAD!!!0 -
There's some big sleeves out there! I've only got 5 kg of rice but over 16kg of pasta in a variety of shapes and lengths!0
