Went and did the weekly shop yesterday and just hit Mr S at the right time for reductions :j. I knew I had some fantastic bargains like 2 Beef Rib Roast Joints down from £14.86 to £5; Rainbow Trout down from £4.49 to £1.49; Organic Rump Steak £5.81 to £1.95 and assorted fruit and veg all at 30p - tomberries usually £2.00; organic grapes usually £2.75 - plus loads more :T.

Anyway, I just decided to go through the receipt to see how much I had saved -
before reductions the total would have been £103.64
    I paid £41.83 -

    making a total saving of £61.81 :j:T:money::j:T:money::D:D:cool:

I am chuffed to bits and OH is seriously impressed :D.

Today I am wearing my OS MSE badge with pride :D.

PS: I also picked up one of Mr M's half price chickens and 6 bags of their 18p pasta :o. I am all shopped out .....

Its lovely and col here today but threatening rain. OH is off on a disabled fishing trip and won't be back till tomorrow :j:j and I am enjoying the peace, started a new diet - bacon butties and chocolate biccies - works for me :rotfl:

Slowly cooked my apples and plums so no waste there. May stroll down to Mr A soon and see whats whoopised there, have had a few luxury(to me anyway) meals on the cheap since it opened. Not going anywhere as the Tories are in town so all the buses round Ginny towers are up the wall due to Manchester being a no go zone. Big protest march today and I hope it all goes well with no hint of trouble.

Gq I have 25 bottles of 5p babyshampoo, bought 1 or 2 week till the cupboard was full and it helps me feel in control, not a winning hand in the poker finals but a bit of a coup for me :)

Noooo that's up my sleeve! Shhhh! :D
  • I'm in a fairly mild part of the country (Worcs) and near a town....but for those of you aren't, don't forget to stock up on birthday cards.
The Card Factory do 7 for £1 and they're nice. I also buy some from the local market and Dr Barnardos @ 69p each.
I keep a stock of assorted in the drawer so there's always one to hand.
    Normal people worry me.

I'm not adjudicating, I may yet thrash the rest of them at this game. I have over 14 kilos of long grain rice hidden up my sleeve.

Thanks for the lemonade reminder Pink-winged. I haven't made lemonade in years, and it's just coming into cheap lemon time here.

I read the most wonderful dessert cookery book today over at MIL's. It's Sweet treats by Pamela Clark, an Australian Womans Weekly book. The recipes mostly have very common ingredients, but there's some new and interesting thing in it. Not sure if it'd be available at British libraries, but worth a look. I'd give the ISBN, but that seems to bring up 2 different titles, which is odd.
:D Drat, outclassed once again; only 2 kilos here. Am not a big rice eater. I'm smiling to imagine the size of the sleeve required..........

Re the ISBNs throwing up different titles.....I wonder if this could be the reason; is it an old title, eg pre early 1970s? If so, there was a predecessor to the ISBN the SBN (standard book number) and it is just about possible one if for an older pre-ISBN title?

VJsMum, I have retreated from clean and wholesome outdoor activities (i.e. allotmenteering) back into a darkened room with a screen as it's 29 degrees up there and I was wilting.

Pink, thanks for the lemonade recipe, that will be a thing to try tomorrow.

Katieowl, I found that the Red Label teabags which I'd been using for a few years suddenly seemed to taste less good and were deffo weaker. Thought I might be imagining it but chance converstations with other people revealed the same phenomenon. I'm ticked off because I now need to find another brand I like.

Lizzy, never thought of kissing the Frog, missed a trick there!

Oooff, could just lie in a tepid bath eating ice-cream for the remainder of the day but need to stew some fruit and do some chores and be bathed and tidy at a mate's by 4 pm.

 Stewing fruit and ironing.....in a heatwave..........I must be certifiable.

I should have trademarked food and non-food poker, I'd be making a fortune. Next time I get a bright idea...
