Beanrua - yes, it was Ecocucina http://ecocucinaen.wordpress.com/ - hope you find something nice on it!

(((((Rosanna))))) - so sorry about your poor wee cat. Will be thinking of you all tomorrow afternoon. x

It's hard to believe that only a week ago I was sleeping in winter PJs and drinking cocoa to keep warm. Yesterday, last night and today the sun is splitting the stones. Yesterday was the joint hottest day of the year (along with one in June) at just over 25C. And since I have switched mentally into Autumn/Winter mode the heat is killing me! Plus I haven't had a chance to acclimatise since July and August were not all that warm.:) I'm sure it won't last so I'd better make the most of it - hmmm, wonder if I could email some sun to Mardatha...............
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

well it really is getting tough. This month we have spent more than we earned. £38.47 to be precise. This is because DH filled the car up yesterday. oh dear. at least we have an interest free overdraught of £100. But it makes next month more difficult. He has 5 weeks pay being paid in tomorrow ,a grand total of £1168 net. Things really are tough.

Ohhh - thank you so much Nualabuala - it's a great site.
Send some sun up here too while you're at it- cloudy all day but warm. Headin to Dublin on Sunday for few days so hoping it will last. Going down on the choo choo train from up North here. Really looking forward to it.

I've been reading the ecocuina site- love the veg stock idea and wondering if you could do similar with fruit to make instant fruit teas like those pricey ones in whittards - use sugar rather than salt and trimmings fro apples etc etc - wdyt?
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

What a great idea! Seems logical that it would work - wonder if anyone else has tried this? I loved the look of the roasted pea shells - only saw it after I had put mine on the compost!!!

It is so hot here today kittie and like you I am struggling for things to wear, I had a very limited summer wardrobe that was decimated in the move (dad chucked a bag out by accident!) as we had no real good weather I managed but yesterday and today have been so hot I am struggling. Even considered getting a small paddling pool out for kids but as they are at school all day it hardly seems worth while.

I have discovered two small pumpkins growing but I had thought that pumpkins were finished by now, is it worth my continuing with them or should I clear the plant out?
Tomatoes are all growing great and my mum reports that hers are doing well too, going to be difficult to go back to shop bought ones when these finish though - they taste so much better.

Just had a look at that link - indeed more and more people are getting it tougher and tougher. There's only so far money can be made to stretch. You must be wondering how far you can go with your budgeting. Big hugs.

I'm not sure if it's a new programme,m maybe it's already been posted but just thought I'd mention this as some folks might like it: The Marvellous Mrs Beeton, with Sophie Dahl at 8pm on BBC2 tonight.

Beanrua - will email you some sun too lol! I think it is set to change but hope it keeps nice for you at the weekend! I love taking the train (except the price) - especially the Belfast - Dublin train cos they always seem nice and new.

(((((OldTractor)))) - that sure is tough. You are doing well as your overspend is small - I hope it won't be too hard clawing it back from next month's budget. :o *crossing my fingers things get better for you.*

Rach - that's a great idea, maybe try with a small bit first to see how it keeps? I remember in Turkey having apple tea and it came powdered in little packets - I wonder if that's how they did it. I think it had quite a bit of sugar in it. Please report back if you do try it!
