You poor love, feel free to express you feelings on here. It's so understandable that you don't want to worry your family and to bottle it all up must be a great strain for you. I wish I could come and put the shopping away for you, but please don't even think of doing it yourself, it will keep. You are far more important.
My very best wishes for tomorrow and hope they can soon find the correct treatment to put you on the road to recovery.
Take care love."It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -
taurus hugs, I am sure your family will put the stuff away when they can, if you can manage anything frozen so it doesnt ruin I would leave the rest.
Could you call the hospital re your appointment tomorrow and explain the circumstances - they may be able to suggest a way around the lying on your stomach or have some type of equipment they can get hold of to make it easier?0 -
Today my son has gone for his driving theory test. I think he will manage it alright as he has been using one of those question and answer CDs to practice.
OH thought I would want to take him in the car but to be honest,DS relies rather too much on us and I think it did him good to have to sort out bus time tables and find his way there himself.
(Quick update! He just telephoned to say he passed:) )
I got the vinegar in the loo last night with a large sign written above it saying 'please do no flush!'.
In the past ,this has been ignored or forgotten but yesterday they managed to follow the rules LOL and so I now have a much nicer looking toilet bowl
Taurusgb sorry you are poorly!
One thing I find very effective for those times and it is a non medication so hope it is alright to suggest it, drink a cup of hot water just before going to bed(not milk or tea, just water).0 -
Taurus so sorry you're feeling so low. I second the "ring the hospital suggestion". If you've spent that long in the smallest room, hopefully you'll soon feel better.

So sorry you are feeling dreadful. Before I had my hysterectomy I used to have the most awful pain each month, I would willingly have swallowed anything to get some relief. I used one of those wheat bags that you heat in the microwave to help soothe the pain, and it really did bring some relief. I found that I also got terrible back pain, and this really did help. I also used a TENS machine- perhaps your GP or the hospital could arrange for you to borrow one. I Hope everything goes well tomorrow, and you get some positive news.
Quick question for those of you with wood-burning stoves - We have had some trees removed from the garden (they were totally putting it into shade, and I was to grow veg), and I now have a huge pile of chopped-up tree. Do we split the logs now and season them, or split them once they are dried out?
Down in Cornwall this week - and boy is the Weather Troll doing a good job! Can't remember it being quite so unremittingly vile in September for some time - we usually get nice quiet autumnal sun, not November murk!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
(((((((taurus)))))) you poor love, so sorry to hear what you're going through. I know some people on iron or other medications like certain painkillers get constipation so severe that it impacts and there is nothing for it but having it manually removed. Hope the lactulose and senna help. Could I suggest you chat with your pharmacist (or doctor/nurse) - they should be able to help prevent it getting that bad again. Very best of luck with your tests tomorrow ... and in the meantime hang in there hon!
I've been feeling so sad for all those facing cuts in their jobs, problems with benefits etc. Sending good thoughts to everyone affected.
I love hearing about Supergran - sorry to hear she is on crutches but her spirit makes me smile - we need more like her!
And congrats to your son Culpepper - that is great news that he passed his test.
I have to tidy up here, it like a very strange bomb hit the place. I did a big bulk shop at the weekend cos I had a lift and there are trays of tinned tomatoes, a box of tomato puree, beans, rice cakes, peanut butter and a big vat of white vinegar and other odds and sods strewn around the hall, that I need to find homes for. If my wardrobe wasn't banjaxed they could easily have ended up in there! I need to clear a bit of space under the stairs - hopefully I can squish them in there. I like being stocked up - I envy those who have all their fuel sorted - especially those who got it from chopping down trees! I depend on gas and electricity and I have money set aside for the big winter bills but it's not the same as being able to see it and knowing it's there.
Instead of tidying, all I've done is make a weetabix loaf and <ahem> test it to see if it's edible. It's only my second time making it and I used tea instead of milk to try to lower the calories. I'm not sure what kind of texture it's supposed to have but this is quite dense and moist and the knife didn't come out dry even after baking for 1 and 3/4 hours - my patience ran out at that stage. I used eggs and banana as well as the tea so maybe that's why it's not crumbly/dry. It tastes good so am not going to worry but would be nice to know for next time how it's supposed to be!
Hope everyone has a good day ... or that it at least gets better! x
Edit: I thought I'd share some money saving stuff I came across - this article on finding ways of using food waste. It links to a great website called Ecocucina that shows how to turn leftovers into meals and generally avoid waste in the kitchen (e.g. cooking eggs in the dishwasher if you have it on anyway, using veg trimmings etc) - here's a link to some recipes for using up pumpkin rind since some of you mentioned you have some.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
