Here we are, my lovelies, just for you (some of you may have read it before):
One Flaw In Women
Women have strengths that amaze men....
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in..
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they
think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what
makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their
family and friends.
Women have vital things to say
and everything to give..
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.
(Actually I'm sure there are a few hubbies on here who would match this too, let's not be sexist!)Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Still trying to be frugal...0 -
We bought something from Comet a few years ago, and the young man serving us actually fell asleep with his elbow on the desk and his head on his hand while he was serving us.
Never again!
Thats shocking but not surprising somehow!! My favourite thing about online shopping si not having to deal with salesmen - the act that its cheaper is a bonus but tbh I'd happily pay more not to have to talk to a muppet trying to sell me a warrenty.
John Lewis is about the only real shop I'll buy large items from as I rate their customer service - but have had to 'remind' them a couple of times thats why we shop with themPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Ohh don't get me started on Comet! About five years ago, I'd just moved to the UK. I was already struggling with some health problems, the stress of moving to a new country, starting post-grad and the end of a relationship so I was sort of at the end of my tether so take my rant in the best possible spirit!
I've been using Macint*sh computers since childhood and it was what I decided to buy for Uni (they did huge education outreach in the states when I was a child and I'd barely used anything else. I'd been given fantastic costumer service, even when it was out of warranty and had used the same laptop for a number of years while I watched my peers wiz through replacements--so its what I bought again for my post-grad work. (It didn't work out so well that time and I no longer buy their products but you need a bit of background here). When I moved in to my flat in small town Wales, most people were friendly and helpful, so when I needed a new router to connect to my internet, I asked around for the best shop and was pointed to Comet. I walked the 45 minutes there, carrying a paper with all of the details I could possible need and bracing myself to remember to pronounce 'router' the British way. I walked it, finally found the section I needed and stared goggle eyed at the contraptions. This was during some serious OS crossover so I was very wary about what I would need. I must have stood there for a good hour or so reading the four or five boxes. No one came over. Finally I plucked up the courage, bolstered my "router" pronunciations (I was very self-concious about my accent) and approached a salesperson, who ignored me and then 10 minutes later looked up and said "I'm helping someone else." I finally found someone to assist me and when I explained what I needed, he very shortly replied "I don't know what you'll need for a Mac, people just shouldn't buy Macs" at which point he walked off.
I promptly went outside, around behind some bushes and had a long over-due, much needed cry. I told some of my fellow students about it later and was sent to a lovely local shop that told me exactly what I needed, told me how to set it up and even checked online to make sure I couldn't get it cheaper there. I will never darken the doors of a Comet again.0 -
Over 25 years ago we bought a microwave from Comets (they were dearer in those days!) and it didn't work properly...took it back and was the worst customer service ever. I think we did eventually get our money back but was like trying to get blood out of a stone. We have never darkened their door since.
Oh just had a thought....was it Comet or Curry's either way never been in either one again.0 -
footwear!! what do you wear on your feet on an ordinary everyday day? I wear crocs and I give thanks for the day I tried my first pair on, I wear socks and trousers with them and I must have a dozen pairs as I stocked up at bargain time. I have to smarten up when I go out but what a relief when I get my crocs on again. I had to throw a pair out this morning as the soles had worn so thin that I could feel a hair underneath them but all in all they are real hardworking good value for money
Lovely sun today and very warm, so a big wash out and almnost dry and a quickie wash on now as my gardening clothes got mucky. I planted up 25 more troughs for the 2 patiogros today, so they are now full of winter lettuces, endives, corn salad and winter spinach. Each patiogro is holding 20 troughs as dh made a couple of supports for the top sides, out of old trellis and I have put the fleeces on as shading today and to divert the rain I am expecting during the next few days
I am having a go at boston type baked beans today, in the slow cooker and used frozen cooked beans. Never done them before so fingers crossed that they are not too sweet
The stuff I am hearing about europe is also scaring me GQ, I am trying not to listen but can`t help it as I am always hoping for good news about something or other0 -
Block your ears everyone
AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh
That's 3 times this month someone has left the freezer door open - I have lost 4 lots of fish, and 2 lots of meat. Think we might be able to use the curry leftovers tomorrow.
I am wondering if the seal has gone on "Steve" (so called because he, also, is a Beko  - yes we name the freezer, doesn't everyone? We also have a bookcase called Julian), because even we aren't normally so careless. I think i am going to run the freezers down and maybe get him replaced, it'll be cheaper in the long run.
This tops off a pretty crap week, money wise. OH tax code changes are losing us some money, OH hit a car last week and decided to buy it rather than deal with insurances (as I hit something a couple of months ago) and the cost of said car wasn't much more than excess, the dishwasher broke, and was mended today costing a bomb (but not as much as a new dishwasher).
It seems i save pennies but then we lose hundreds, if not thousands this week, of poundsI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
oh VJ, what a tough time, grhhh I hate it when things go wrong all at once
I felt like doing this next bit in small print after reading VJs post but I`ll be brave
I have bought chocolate, enough for the whole winter, all dark as it satisfies the cravings, so that is my home comforts sorted now. The wool is ready for knitting, the books ready to read, lots of good dvds and all free in papers from years ago, ds charged up and puzzles ready. To heck with all the preserving and getting cosy, it is DONE. Bring it on!!!0 -

Just a thought--and unlikely if its a relatively new problem--but this kept happening with my fridge freezer. My mum suggested that I check how it was balanced (apparently the feet unscrew/scew in the front to adjust the height) the front should be slightly higher than the back and this can make sure the door finishes closing when its a few cm away. It did help me--might be worth a try.0 -
Had a coffee morning with the other parents whose children have started at school with my daughter. They all mostly live in a very affluent area and their houses are at least three times as big as mine. I admitted today to a few that I was ashamed of my house and would never invite anyone back to it - because it is so small my living room could only fit another two people in it (no extra children) and it's in such a mess! They really do not understand how the other half live. Most of them are lucky enough to be stay at home mums whose husbands earn a huge wage. One mum was saying how they've just bought a house with 7 bedrooms and a swimming pool and was complaining that they could not move in properly until the kitchen was refurbished at a cost of £20,000! If I had that money I would refurbish my entire house, garden and get a new car!
Anyway, envy gets you nowhere and I will just have to double my efforts to get debt free so we can get a bigger house and not have to live ontop of each other. One day..........
Just a quick question I have some beef in the oven that is 2 days passed it's use by date is it safe to eat? It's not slimy and some is still quite pink. Need to cook for my daughter and husband (I do not eat beef so am not sure). Thanks.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'
Proud Mummy to two gorgeous miracles.:j0 -
Was it in the fridge? Did it smell off?
Remember most beef is hung for weeks, and gets more expensive the longer it is hung.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
