In up and coming areas, one house would be worth more than the two parts. In areas that are a little tired, the two parts would be worth more than the total.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Btman what exactly is your malfunction??0 -
He might have an issue with people coming on the forum "bragging" about their 600k property, when property is unaffordable for the current generation. This site is moneysavingexpert.com, not richlandlords.commr.broderick wrote:Btman what exactly is your malfunction??0 -
I dont for 1 minute think they are bragging, its not their fault property has gone stupid, we dont want remarks like btmans on here, no need for it.0

Not boasting thats for sure!I lost my first house due to kidney failure and have been living in and doing up hovels ever since to try and recoup. My concern is that if the EA don't know either. All teh houses in our road are either houses or divided into aboput 4 flats ours is the only one which is a big maisonette and a small flat so I don't want them to get it wrong thats all.0

BTMan I haven't a clue or I wouldn't have asked! It was only when the house 2 doors down sold that I was alerted to this otherwise I would probably have taken the ea valuation and not thought of it idn terms of the whole house.Surely 2 flats which make up a 640k house can't be worth that much less0

You might have to reconvert to get the house back but you're right - if the house is the same size and the gardens etc are comparable then you would think they would have the same value!Stercus accidit0 -
You would have to reconvert but it is only about 5k of work max so if we have made a profit like that we will sell up and be debt and mortgage free which is the plan in case I am ever ill again Thanks for all your advice I have heard of agents buying properties themselves so just wanted to check it out 1st0
