Getting you hands on a Wii!

Hello!
I bought a Wii from Game on Friday by going into the shop dead on 9 in the morning and asking when they were getting some in stock, fully expecting to have my name added way down a huge list. The bloke said they were getting 6 in store later that day and I would be number 2 on the list if I wanted one! Someone else phoned as my name was going on the list. SO I went back a couple of hours later and I am now the proud owner of one of the most fun things ever! This was at Game in Kendal, but I assume similar things will be happening at all Game stores.

I phoned my local game store in Worcester at 10.30 yesterday morning, they said they had had 9 in, they had been on sale for 15 mins and 3 had gone.
They said they couldnt hold one for me, so i jumped straight in the car and 20 mins later I had my wii!!!!
Its fantastic, really, really good fun. Cant understand people still paying so much on ebay though.0 -
Just the console, but I bought Zelda to go with it. I traded in my old Xbox at the same time (only £20 for it!), so it came to £200 with Zelda. I was also after Wii Play, but they had none in stock. I thought about the bundle because I thought it was for £270, which woud have been a huge saving, but when I looked again it was actually £370 - not so great!0

I can't either - they are going for over £250! I bet they will be freely available in a couple of weeks.0 -
Wii play seems to struggling all over the place! Just ordered one from Choices though for virtually the price of the controller itself!0

I got 2 wii's just before christmas by turning up to games stores early. wear those shoes out and get out there early and you will get one. Game's policy is to alocate them on a first come first served basis, their head office has asked them not to reserve or take a list of names like in the case of the OP and make people who want one wait for them to arrive I think this is the fairest way to distribute them myself, it would have been great to go and hit the shops for a few hours but I was standing in game waiting for a wii.
Wii play isnt as good as wii sports the games are small I wish the shooting game was more like duck hunt than its current format but never mind for a few £'s more than the remote you cant complain. If you want Wii play check out argos, we got pne from middlebrook argos on the 28th and it wouldnt work so we took it back but they had none left so we returned it to chorley who had some Leigh also had some you can reserve online for collection too.0 -
We also got one in game without having to get a bundle. went round most of the shops in plymouth and had no joy. asked in game at about 9.45 when they'd get some more in and he said about and hour!
got 40 in and I was the only one hanging around for it!
So definitely a bit easier to get now. although it was !!!!ing it down, so quiet in town.
payed a bit over the odds at 40 squid for play in smiths (they also had nunchucks, but in empty boxes on the shelves - so do ask if it looks like they don't have them) worth getting the extra controlloer. and laser hockey on play is sooo fun!
Here's our friend code if anyone wants to play
