look, jewellery will never have a second hand value which comes anywhere near the price paid for it when it was new.
My mother had some very beautiful rings and brooches, which my father had paid many thousands of pounds for through their lives. She was paying a huge insurance premium for them, so looked at selling them. We went to several jewellers of very good reputation, and they all apologised, but were only able to offer paltry sums for the items. Jewellery does not have good second hand value, and should never be considered an investment.
I would also say that I would never buy anything expensive from H Samuel. Their position in the market is aimed 'lower end'. I have bought items there, but only cheap watches, and a couple of little pieces when my step-daughter was a little girl (so it didn't matter so much if she lost them).I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
Are you sure they haven't just offered you scrap gold value?Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0

Yes thats what I said - one place didn't want it at all and the other 2 places just offered for scrap gold as the diamonds were 'worthless'0
