I am after any advice on how to fill in the ES4JP log form correctly. First time I have ever had to apply for this and don't understand what I should be writing in.
The columns are:
What I did
Date - easy enough
What Happened
What I will do next
When
Any examples per section greatly appreciated.

I have just started JSA as well and asked this morning about this form.
Basically it is a log of your job seeking activities so you put in what you have done in the way of looking for a job.
eg visited jobcentreplus website - found nothing suitable
checked local newspaper - contacted advertiser about bar staff job - send CV to employer
I'm sure that someone with more experience than me will give better tips but as long as you fill this form in at least 3 times a week, you should be ok.0 -
It's not complicated, just answer the questions in relation to your job seeking, they even give a few examples on the first page of the form to help you out!
If in doubt, speak to your advisor next time you see them.0 -

not seen that form but anyway,
what happened which i guess is what you did eg what websites did you look on,
what will you do next means did you apply for a job or did you email for application etc
when i guess its the date when it sould be done by.
You need to do 3 forms of job search a week so whether its look in paper, search a website or look on direct.gov(can be any combination as long as its 3 a week). My form is different but same principle, i probably doo too much searching but i want a job asap so im thinking it will pay off. I dont think its required but on my p[revious forms ive mentioned that i registered with learndirect and i make a note of when i have an interview as the 2 are in a way helping me to find a job plus when its checked they see im getting interviews.0 -
As others have said it's what you have done to find work in the fortnight between signing appointments.0

Ah, It's simpler than I thought. Thanks for the help.
Mine has 3 job searches and 2 x job seekers direct website a week. So 5 a week for some reason.
Not a problem as I'm doing way above.0 -

my agreement says to do 3 of the following:
to write to 1 eployer a week,
phone 1 employer a week
search direct.gov once a week
ask friends/family for any jobs
look in local paper
maybe you have to do 5 due to your age but as you say your doing more thann required, good luck,0 -

Stupid headings reallyRed_Shoes_No_Knickers wrote: »Are the headings not self explanatory my love? Think about it a little ...
Patronising maybe my love!?
What I did - they want to know what you did but are they asking you to write ALL what you did? If this was the case I'd fill in one book each DAY. So I ONLY put down the jobs I applied for and under this coloum I put where the job was advertised or where I looked to find it eg https://www.reed.co.uk
Date - yeah so the date as in today maybe
What Happened - I put for example 'found job advertised for accounts assistant.
What I will do next - ok I use this one for what I actually did eg 'applied online' or emailed a cover letter to 'email address' etc
When - the date I did it which is probally the same date as the day I found the job advertised.0 -

Under "What I did", you should include all of your agreed weekly actions and any extra ones you do. It may make sense to group a few together, e.g. if you have a lot of websites to check, because the book does fill up fast when you're genuinely looking for work and evidencing all of your efforts.
"What happened" may be "Applied for job" or "Arranged interview", but sometimes it will be something like "No suitable vacancies found". "What I will do next" may be the next stage in an application process, e.g. "Attend 2nd round interview" but it may also be "Call again in two days' time" or "Look again tomorrow". "When" should be specific - if you speak to a recruitment consultant and there's nothing on the go, put down a specific date for ringing them again to check if anything has changed. I think part of the reason for putting down a date is to encourage you to be proactive - recruitment consultants do often call if there's a suitable job, but if you call them, you might be lucky and be the first person to speak to them just after they hear about a role.
Hopefully you won't be filling out booklets for too long!
PS If you're unsure about anything, don't be afraid to ask your advisor. Mine was really lovely and really supported me in my search for work.0
