Vodafone - Falsely accused of fraud - thrice
So I took out a Vodafone contract in May.
The lady in store didn't take sufficient ID and put random details in for my bank account and home phone, not the details I provided.
Unsurprisingly my account was blocked by their fraud team.
So I sent in ID and they unbarred my account.
I then moved last week, my account was barred by fraud again.
Visited store with ID, faxed to Fraud, and the account was unbarred.
The account has now been barred a third time, the IMEI of my phone barred, too, so I can't even use a PAYG SIM, and a CIFAS marker added (Victim of Impersonation).
I visited store on Saturday with ID but they couldn't do anything as Fraud don't work weekends. I work in another county far away from any Vodafone stores so can't visit with ID without loosing a days wage (£80) - I'm a contractor at present.
Obviously written a formal complaint demaing my PAC free of charge and for the CIFAS record to be removed but if anyone has any suggestions / clarification on what I can do to move forwards on this I'd greatly appreciate it.
At present I can't even get a SIM-Only elsewhere let alone another contract with the CIFAS marker present. I haven't tried - don't want to waste the footprint - but we all know even Three would run for the hills if an application came in with a CIFAS flag on it.

Is it not you who registers for this service that just warns all potential creditors to perform extra checks?
What 'record' and 'footprint' are you talking about?0 -
I am no expert, but I don't understand this.

The CIFAS register is accessible by individuals and creditors / service providers.
Individals can add "Protective Registration" but the other catagories are added by organisations if they feel the person in question has either committed, or been victim to, fraud.
Footprint - if I try to get a contract elsewhere they'll put a credit search on my file. Too many results in a lower credit score.
Record - my credit files.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

What record do you want to get removed then? I don't see any reason for a negative record in your credit files.
Regarding Vodafone, their shambolic CS and IT system is a common knowledge. Either wait for their online reps here to reply to this thread or find their e-mail address and REF in this thread: Vodafone complaints - and take the initiative.0 -

I want the CIFAS record removes as it is FALSE. I haven't been a victim of impersonation so for them to place a record on my credit files saying I have is a breach of data procetion - it's a lie - flase and inaccurate data.
It would also cause me to be declined for a lot of things I might otherwise be approved form.
If I apply for a phone contract elsewhere while a CIFAS record is still there I will both be declined (Due to the CIFAS marker) and have lowered my credit score (due to a credit search visible to other lenders).
Therefore Vodafone are effectively preventing me from getting a contract elsewhere. Atop falsely accusing me of fraud three times and cutting me off from a service I'm paying for.
I welcome any input their reps have to make. I especially welcome it if it isn't as laughable as what they've told me so far.
Thanks for the complaints link although I've written to them over the weekend and hope for a swift reply - otherwise it's OTELO and ICO for them!
Do you think it's unreasonable to expect the cancellation fee to be waived and my PAC issued if I return the handset, given what's gone on?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

As I said, I am no expert, but I think it is you who can registers/ungegister for CIFAS service (=place CIFAS flag to your credit files).
Have you seen this record or you are just guessing?
grumbler - protective registration is added / removed by the consumer.
All other CIFAS categories are added / removed by a creditor / service provider and CIFAS themselves will only take instruction to remove a record from the person / firm that added it in the first place.
I have checked my CIFAS records via a S7 DPA request and a "Victim of Impersonation" record has been added by Vodafone.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
