Mobile phone forgotten PIN - Motorola Razr

Hi,
We have some old mobiles gathering dust which we'd like to try and flog on ebay. One is Motorola "Razr V3" on Virgin. We never really even used this phone at the time several years ago. Have charged it and it's asking for a PIN - we have no idea what the PIN might be.
Is there any way to reset this ourselves as we can't offer it for sale like this and more importantly want to get access to the phone before we sell it anyway to remove any numbers that might be stored on it.
Many thx!

And some suggestions here http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic46978.html of trying the last 4 digits of your sim card.0 -
Assuming its the SIM PIN, then do not randomly try numbers because you get three attempts before you need to obtain the PUK from your provider.
Check with the SIM provider what the default PIN is or ask them for the PUK which will enable you to set a new PIN.
If it isn't the SIM PIN then could you give the exact message on screen?0 -
Hi
Many thanks for the replies. Well this is very bizarre, the last time we got this phone out (years ago!) it was definitely asking for a PIN. This time, just finished charging it and it turns on straight away without asking for a pin.
It seems to have a SIM card in it because it dials numbers and there seems to be credit on the SIM too which seems odd as it's been in a cupboard for literally years! How can we find out what if any credit there is on the SIM and could we get this refunded at all as we're no longer with Virgin.
If we remove the SIM just wondering if the phone will still work okay or will then ask us for a PIN. Could try and see I spose - just clueless really with phones!0 -
Dial 789 to find out what remaining credit.
You can't get refunds.
Phone will work with other sims if its not locked to Virgin.0 -
Hi,
Thank you OneADay, dialled 789 and found out it has the princely sum of around £6 on it. Still amazed it has anything as it hasn't been receiving or making calls for several years so I thought the SIM and balance would have been long gone.... will get to work spending this for calls before I put it on ebay!
Will also try another SIM card in it to see if it's unlocked but am sure we didn't unlock it so I guess it isnt.0 -
Virgin might unlock it for you for a charge - could use £6 towards that :-)
Or try to find out cost of unlocking in highstreet and online.0
