I wonder whether anyone can help me please.
I Have a landline at home and my daughter who is 3 doors away does not.
I am thinking if possible to have broadband internet fitted at my address. Is it possible then or allowed for my daughter to use my internet from her home address. I mean would it reach firstly and secondly am i breaking any rules by allowing her to do this.
My daughter desperately wants internet but cant afford to have a landline bill aswell.
Any help would be appreciated.

WiFi is unlikely to work well three doors away unless you rig up a link using external antennas. To do that you'd need at least some expertise and DIY ability or pay someone to do the job.0

Thanks for your reply.
She used to be able to pick up someone elses internet as it was not secure but now they have blocked it. Obviously we dont know how far away it was.
I have not much knowledge of internet thats why i am asking for help.0 -
It's more question of knowing what equipment is needed and how to fit it.
You'd need a wireless router your end which could take an external antenna (some can't). That would connect to the antenna - there are some cheap WiFi yagis on eBay but you'd need an extension lead for them too. That would preferably be mounted on an outside wall.
At your daughters end you'd need another antenna and a WiFi AP extender although it may be worth trying without initially as it might work OK anyway just to a laptop.
Of course it may even work with just a standard wireless router but the distance means it may well be slow and unreliable.0 -

Would i be doing anything illegal letting her use my internet.0 -
Not illegal but most ISPs T&C forbid connection sharing - you aren't really sharing it though anyway.0
