My DLA claim is 7/8 weeks old and still waiting to hear - I assume from their Doctor next? But the content of the enevelope is merely an apology that I am still waiting as the claim is still in progress. PHEW for this time:)

I had the same panic on Saturday, turned out to be the letter detailing how much SDA I'd received last financial year which I need for my teens' student loan applications0

Those brown envelopes certainly cause us some stress, don't they?:eek::eek:
I am assuming the next communication will be to say I have been awarded - wishfull thinking perhaps???????
Or realistically fromtheir Doctor to arrange the medical??????
BUT my wife has just said I may get turned down without being seen by their Doctor -- can this happen???????
I spent my life in a career that needed me to have a Plan B, if Plan A didn't work, and then a Plan C if Plan B didn't work. So many 'What Ifs' and so hard to read a good document or web site that is clear and has all the answers.0 -

This is not true in the sense that you do not have to see their doctor in order to be awarded.
They normally send a doctor out if something is not quite clear cut, or if your own docs report does not guve enough information, but at the same time, your form gives plenty of ibformation, so they just need to confirm what you state ( in other words not use your docs report as evidence, but use what you have stated on the form and their doctors report as evidence for making a decision.)
Sending a doctor costs money, so if they don't feel they need to send one, they won't and will base the award on what evidence they have already.
As for contingency plans, I am afrad with DLA, you just go through the wheels of motion - that is, if you feel you have been incorrectly assessed and awarded, then get evudene and statement of reasons and decide whether to appeal. Good luck though, I hope the decision is favourable.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
Thanks Anubis and I just wish there was a 'font of all information' web site which would save time in trying to get answers.0

Fortate, it is highly likely they would send a Doc out.
Luminated, the benefits and work website is great, you have to pay a sub, but it is worth it, especially if you need to appeal. https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

Yes subscribed in May when I was about to start my DLA application. Made me focus on how I needed to fill the form in. Not by lies but by making sure I didn't waffle too much as can be my way:o0 -
You and me both, I gave them 48 extra pages
I don't use the B and W forum for filling in the application or renewal, I subscribed in April this year incase of appeal and to find put more about PIP when I initially learned of it.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0
