iPhone MicroSim for Data Roaming in Asia
Hi
Has anyone come across a global/local SIM for use in Hong Kong and/or China which can be used for 3G data as well as calls?
There seem to be lots of offers for call/text offerings, but nothing which includes data. I know there's always the WiFi option but would prefer to be able to use 3G, if if the cost is more than the UK.
Not willing to pay Tesco's £8/MB though! My iPhone 4 is in-contract with Tesco, but I've paid them the £20 to get this unlocked so any SIM should work now.
Thanks for any advice!

Data is big business for the networks , so why should they give it away? You have not found a deal because there are not any, best bet is to look at payg options for the places you are visiting.0

Type Hong kong sim into Ebay you can get the local sims for about 10 pounds and you can use pccw wifi with the sim which i think is every where over plus your calls etc will all be much cheaper yes its never good idea to take uk sim over just text all your contatcs your tempory number
Another is 0044 they charge 1.300 -
You can get a 3 prepaid card from one of their shops at HK Airport. A normal sized simcard costs $98 and offers unlimited data access at HK$28 per day. Or you can get a micro-sim (for the iPad/iPhone4) for HK$198 and offers unlimited data access at HK$18 per day

Thanks for the tip - would a HK SIM be valid in China (i.e. calls considered to be local rate) or would it be better to get a China SIM in Shanghai (my first port of call when I get there)?
I'll be in HK for a few days, so need a SIM there, then travelling to China and would obviously like to not pay international rates on the local SIM.
Thanks.0 -
It will be considered as roaming. Best to get a seperate China card for mainland use.0
