Hugs to you. I have been in your situation. Two weeks ago I resigned my job. There was no way I could continue. I didn't go down the route of seeing my doctor. Since leaving I have felt better. I can sleep, my skin, and hair have improved, my breathing is better and I'm not getting panic attacks. I am job-hunting with a vengeance but I know the chances look bleak. I might have to move out of my rented place if I don't find something. I had a choice of possibly an awful future or the job. It was so bad for me that I chose to ditch the job. My future looks very uncertain and no-one in their right mind would recommend it. The only reason I stayed was because it was sensible. However, I'm glad I left. The relief has been immeasurable.

Well done for having the courage to do it, i like you am not sleeping etc because i am dreading going in there, plus the work is repetitive, im on an assembly line of sorts and im tied to my station and cant move, if i need the toilet i have to press a light on my station to alert my supervisor who gets cover and only then can i go, plus we start stupid early at 5am and work til 3pm i literally just cant hack it anymore, and i agree its a horrible situation and liek you i stay there only because i get paid and thats it.

No way to live a life but heyho.

It does seem to me as if two things are being confused here.

    1. OP is being bullied, and in an employment situation where this is being actively ignored.
    2. OP wants to move (anyway).

I know you say you don't have the energy to do any more about your present job, but I do think you should raise a formal grievance about the way you are being treated. Was your injury at work recorded properly? When did this happen? Could you sue them for this? From what you have written, you are in a situation where they should be paying you to go quietly!!!!!!!!

I agree totally with what you're saying. I think it is totally unacceptable that the OP is being 'forced' to leave her job.

My understanding is, however, that the OP is suffering mentally (and no doubt physically) and cannot face 'doing something about it'.

'Fighting' this is not straight forward and although it is possible, I feel that the OP needs support (hence my suggestion that she visits CAB) if she goes down this route.

I am hoping that if the OP takes some advice there may be a way that the OP can leave without resigning and thus, be entitled to JSA.

I have now filed about 5 formal grievances at work regarding this, but they dont care, they say they have "dealt" with the situation but that just means that the ppl in question were spoken too and that's it.

They launched an investigation into my injury at work, they said that i was lying, the person that messed with my chair denied doing it, and then called me a f**in* fat !!!!! in front of 2 managers and they did nothing whatsoever, as i was just lying !!!!

Bear in mind that i then had to go and see the works occupational health advisor who made me pay to get 2 separate letters from my doctor at a cost of £30 each where my doctor verified my injuries but they still did nothing.

If you had to work in a place where people looked at you with contempt and actively slagged you off for anything and spread rubbish about you and talked about you behind your back maliciously to anyone that would listen and then your sat there and have nobody to talk too about it, what do you do ?

im literally only there for the money but i hate going in there everyday..
  • Hi there,
Hope you are feeling a bit better.I've had difficult times at work so I know what you are going through.I think no job is worth your health and that if things are getting so bad you need to call the samaritans then you should be going to the DRS then going off on the sick with depression. This will buy you some space to think through what you are going to do.
Like the others said I would also check the situation re benefits and I would also see an employment law specialist to discuss if I would be able to leave work and them claim constructive dismissal. However,I know though that this is hard to prove.
Get all the information together and write down all the pluses and minuses of all the options.I would also discuss it through with someone who was sensible and trustworthy.
I think though if things are at this stage then you do need to leave. Its how you do it thats the issue. Its very hard to fight against a big workplace when they all lie and back each other up.

    Hi,

doctor has signed me off work for 2 weeks, wrote on the sick note, work related stress.

hopefully i can get some things sorted out then in this time.

dandelionclock30 yes its very hard to get backup when like you said they lie and all stick together, your just told its a factory get used to it which to me is not a valid reason to talk too and treat ppl like garbage to the extent that they dont want to come to work.

I really do appreciate all the help and advice that you have all taken time to give me though, its a very hard decision and ill be taking some time to think about it, however it is nice to know that you all agree that i should leave because its exactly what i have been feeling like for months .

    thanks again :)

That's an awful situation to be in but ultimately I think you should focus on getting better and work won't help that. Can you not stay with relatives in North Wales until you get sorted? If you couldn't find a job you could think about temporarily doing babysitting or pet sitting, something that you can advertise locally just to get a bit of money? :)

Actually, some of us think you should leave when you have another job to go to.

only you think that but im not just gonna quit my job, i do have some sense but if you were in my situation nobody would tell you to stay here, its not nice to go through and i came here to get some genuine advice about what to do and being patronising isnt helpful.

I'm sure it wasn't meant to be patronising but your comment did make me :rotfl:!
