Try reading the rest of the posts by the original poster and you may be a little less hasty in telling me to grow up. Don't need advice from people like you anyway.
The original poster has described her as a 'dragon' and a 'cowbag'. Now, not sure about you, but this hardly sounds like someone who is just doing their job, as well as what she is told to do.
The problem with poor customer service in this country is that far too many people just accept it and don't complain.
So, to summise, she probably was a snotty little cow - hardly just 'doing her job'. :shhh:0 -
The policy for returning CD and DVDs is in the back of the ASDA magazine but I can't find any copies here so you might have one or someone else may be able to help.0

Yes, there's actually a very good reason for this. People are buying items from Play.com and other cheap places where items are VAT free and then returning them back to the major High Street stores to make a profit.
High Street companies are finding it difficult to compete against the internet and have to open up Jersey branches themselves to compete. By doing so, they annoy some customers who don't know why you can't order off the internet and then return them instore - this is a VAT issue though.
However, the second kick in the teeth is that customers have been buying them cheap and returning them. This causes problems with conforming to the law as well as loss-making transactions where the customer never bought from them in the first place!

Surely you could just say that its an unwanted presented and that you weren't offered a gift receipt. I'd go in there and go ballistic about the appalling customer service that you have received in the meantime.
I'm a CSD at ASDA and the person who originally spoke to the op was just doing her job, The policy recently changed (oct/nov) and now states that we will accept a cd back but must have a receipt. its people like yourself that make out job a difficult one and gets you nowhere with the CSD (at least in my store)"The journey of 1000 miles commenced with a single step"0 -

Again, another person who hasn't read the earlier posts within this thread. I think the complaint half to do with the fact that she cannot take the CD, but the other being the pathetic and rude customer service that she received from the employee.
"People like myself" Please don't preach to me darling. You shouldn't really be in this line of work if people like me make your job difficult. You're pretty much the first point of call if there are any complaints and you should really be trained to deal with it. Maybe if people like YOURSELF actually did their job properly, then there'd be no need for customers to get arsey.
I've experienced fantastic customer services in stores like john lewis and marks and spencer. But as you have pretty much suggested - difficult customers get you nowhere with the CSD - kinda represents the company and the employees within.0 -

Aggressive and patronising to a fellow MSE'er in six words! :T
That's got to be worth some sort of award! (Just got to find some appropriate place where you can put it now  )."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Perhaps Asda should make it a policy that when anyone attempts to buy a cd/dvd etc that they verbally tell the customer that it will not be able to be returned without a receipt and perhaps offer a gift receipt instead. And yes the lady in the avatar is me
