Cooling off period with three sim only contract?

You will find with a lot of phones unless the phone was originally on three and unlocked it wont work on the 3 network.

I have a samsung galaxy S its unlocked to every network except three only thing i can think of is sell the iphone on Ebay and use the proceeds to buy another on ebay but one that is sim locked to three just dont buy another unlocked one unless its originally been on three.

Dont ask me why becasue i had a Nokia N73 on orange locked paid for it to be unlocked and was unlocked to three after not sure whats with newer phones not allowing this as i would like mine unlocked to three as well.

Try this

1 brick the iPhone ( google it) this will return it to it's factory state you will however lose all the data

2 insert the three sim and reconnect it to iTunes this should install the three carrier settings from scratch

It's possible that three is blocked as they allow some functions on the iPhone to work eg wireless hotspot which other carriers block so you must have the correct firmware on the phone
