We chose 27th July too as it was a Saturday and also as we have a few teachers coming.

    Can't believe it's nearly a year away!

Haven't done any more planning, but will look at stepping things up in the next couple of months.

Exciting Mixen, must be a busy day.

I have booked an appointment at a wedding shop to go dress shopping at the end of the month with my mum and sister, excited!

    :wave:Hello fellow July-2013 brides/grooms...
I don't post much on here, but since getting engaged and booking our wedding in May I have found myself lurking on the wedding boards, pretty much every lunchtime :o

Me and my andy (I'm andys linz) are getting married July 27th 2013 at Grenta Green. Same day as Spencer Li and amyjoan :T

There isn't a great deal for me to do in terms of the organising of the day to be honest, it's very relaxed booking a package wedding deal, because it's all arranged for you...

We are going up to Gretna on the Friday 26th, with our immediate families and staying the Fri and Sat night. There are 14 of us in total, so it's a nice number. We wanted something small, and intimate. We are not big on BIG weddings and to be honest are quite personal people who like our privacy. We will be having a big party for our family and friends when we return from honeymoon.

So far we have booked the wedding venue, reception(for 14 guest after wedding ceremony), hotel for evening before, and evening of wedding for us both, and our small gathering (14 people in total)
Included in the Gretna wedding package is bridal boquet and groom buttonhole (which I can add to at a later date if I wish for bridesmaids or best man to have), wedding cake, photographer(plus album), videographer, scottish piper to pipe me into ceremony, vintage wedding car to take me to venue :D, luxury bridal suite in hotel...

As far as things I need to do...well there is a list a long as my arm, but I'm not stressing over it yet...I have LOOKED at lots... But not actually made any decisions as of yet.

Some of you seem to be alot further ahead of me, is there anything I should be giving my urgent attention?

So far I still have to do:
    Party arrangements
    Food for party
    Another wedding cake for party
    Party invites
Dress/Shoes/Veil etc (want to lose couple more lbs)
H2B clothes (he still needs to decide kilt or suit)
    Rings
Hair/Makeup (need to decide if I want/need both, I'm pretty good at doing both, but then when it's your wedding day it has to be perfect right?)
Clothes for wedding party - initial plan was to get sister (BM) and neice (BM2) to purchase their own dresses in similar/matching colours, and andys brother (bestman) to purchase own suit...but since we said this I have seen sooo many pretty bridesmaid dresses I love, and just want to buy for sister and neice...but I need to try and stick to my initial plan/BUDGET!
Honeymoon - need to decide on where to go and start looking at deals...I am saving in a seperate pot for this, it is completely my responsibility to have the honeymoon fund by scrimping and planning with the food shopping budget...andy says if we crack open the jar and theres only 300 quid in there a weekend in skegness is what it'll have to be :rotfl:
Hen/Stag - not really put much thought into these yet, and im not sure how bothered we are...but we would like to do something to "mark" the occassion I suppose. Mine will probably be a nice relaxing spa with my nearest dearest and he fancies some sort of paintball/go kart/quad bike/assault course day out with the boys...n'awww
Any extra bits for actual wedding day, cake topper, favours, chair covers (if we want) ...

Gosh, now that I have wrote it out on here, it looks alot! But really, I'm not stressed, I'm excited!

Hope all of your planning is coming along nicely, I think I need to tick some stuff off...

Look forward to chatting about our weddings

Your wedding sounds like it will be lovely andyslinz. That is great you get so much included in the package.

I have bought my wedding dress this weekend. Only went to one shop but decided i would just confuse myself if i went to any more and really liked the dress i chose. I tried on about 10 dresses, then got it down to 3 i really liked and then chose my favourite. didn't know the prices until i chose my favourite and was really lucky as it was only £350 so was under my budget. It is going to be coming in about a week! Won't be going back to get alterations done till next year nearer the wedding.

Next job is to find a dj. Is a bit of a tricky one as you don't really know how good they are. Going to see if my friends who are married have any suggestions.

    Thanks wendz - i hope so :)

Wow £350 for the dress is brilliant! What's it like? I have two other friends getting married next year (before me, may time I think) and one went dress shopping on saturday, but she isn't giving too much away on the style etc :( I wanting details, lol! But maybe she thinks I will copy her.
I think I am going to look a preloved dresses, or there is a factory wedding/prom dress outlet near me, that sells "old season" dresses for massive reductions.
A tip for looking for a DJ - get as many recommendations as you can. Try and go to as many parties as you can throughout the year (wherever possible) and also, like you've said, ask married friends their ideas.

It's a chiffon material which is why it is cheaper and goes straight down but is quite fitted at the top with one strap. Then there is a flower detail on the strap and also on the other side on the waist. I really like that it makes me look slim woohoo.

I am not worried about people knowing what my dress is like (apart from OH). I think you will go for something that suits you so you wouldn't copy. Well I wouldn't anyway.

Thanks for the tip on the dj, don't get invited to many big parties sadly but will have a chat to people and see what recommendations i can get.

    Hi everyone!

Andyslinz - welcome to the thread! Sounds like you've got a lot of stuff sorted already as it's included in the package, which is great! It sounds lovely, there's a part of me who would really like just to have a small number of really close family and friends at ours, but with our families I think it might have caused World War 3 if we had tried to do that!!

Wendz - fab news on the dress!! I do love hearing about people getting bargains. It sounds lovely as well. I totally agree with going with something that suits you, I've ended up with a dress which is exactly what I said I didn't want when I started looking, as it was by far the best suited to me.

We have slowed down a bit with our wedding planning, as we did quite a lot early on. We have booked a DJ in the last few weeks, which is someone we saw at a friends wedding. We were the same about booking a DJ, didn't really want to choose a random one who might end up being rubbish, so we were lucky in that respect. I have also been messaging old friends on Facebook who have recently married, to see who they used for things!

Our cars are pretty much booked. I was looking at a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud for us and a Daimler limousine for the bridesmaids. When we got to the showroom, my dad and OH fell in love with a Rolls Royce 25/30, and I thought I should let them have SOME say in the wedding! :D Annoyingly, OH called them today and the Daimler isn't available now, so we will be having an Austin Princess for the bridesmaids, which is still a lovely car, but a bit more expensive!

Oh we booked our honeymoon as well! We are off to Mexico for 10 nights, at a place that looks amazing. It had better be, it's costing a fortune! I did manage to haggle a bit with the travel agents though to being the cost down a bit, which is one advantage of not booking online!! I'm really enjoying the whole haggling thing, and feel such a sense of achievement when we get something for cheaper than quoted!!
