Cracked heels - what can I use?

It will depend on what is causing the cracked heels. If it is not clearing up with normal "dry heel " treatment, it is quite possible that it is actually a fungal infection- like athletes foot, which is very common, and often mistaken for dry cracked heel. I had been struggling with filing every few days, and constant moisturising for years before i discovered the real problem!
Yould may find that trying an OTC athletes foot cream might help. Or if you want to try natural remedies, buy a big vat of unpastuerised (cloudy) cider vinegar (contained "mother"- the cloudy stuff!), and give your feet a soak in that every evening for a few weeks. You can water it down a little after the first few days if it is too drying. Works a treat.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Flexitol & fish pedicure (provided there are no weeping cracks). Apparently the fish secrete an oil which helps the dryness whilst chewing off the hard skin.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Ditto Vaseline. Smother it over your heels at night then wear socks.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0

i've tried everything under the sun including monthly trips to the chiropodist, now i use ccs cream (off ebay) cos thats what they recommend and i have a little emjoi machine thats takes loads off - it's worth every penny a million times better than my ped egg.0

Ditto to vaseline or boots own brand foot cream. I also found that in the summer it was worse due to backless sandals and flip flops, so you could try and avoid wearing them.0

I like Avon's foot creams. They do a heel softening cream that is very good for cracked heels.0

My mum had the same issue and I found 'Lucas Paw Paw' cream online. It's imported from Western Australia and contains all this natural stuff and it cleared her cracked heels and also fingers (during the winter) up VERY quickly! Its a tad expensive but it did the trick
http://www.pawpawshop.co.uk/ is the first site that came up on google although there are lots of others!0 -
My chiropodist recommended CCS Cream for cracked heels - it's marvellous and works but only if you use it regularly.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

I've had really shocking heels since my baby was born last year to the point where they've bled quite a lot and it's been incredibly painful to walk on them. They've not been so bad recently but I file and moisturise them before bed and then in the morning put cream on and then my socks, I've been usings CCS cream which was really good but am using the avon stuff as we had it in and it's okay but will buy more ccs when that is used. I find if I keep my socks on then I'm usually okay but I'm obviously boiling to death in this weather.
It's not like I've an excess of hard skin either, just really dodgy skin on my feet. Have been given a small tube of the pawpaw stuff so will try that at some point. I hate my feet.:staradmin0
