T- Mobile; Monthly Discount / Reduce Tariff?

Hi,
I took out an iPhone contract in March of this year, with T - Mobile, for £35 per Month for 24 Months (I have since sold my iPhone..What was I thinking?)
Anyway, I'm now trying to lower the tariff, while at the same time dealing with my debts generally.
When I called T - Mobile a couple of weeks ago, the rep told me that they'd lower the tariff but only after my fourth bill; ie - after the 24th July, and that I should call back and request this after the 24th.
So, I called today; Advised the rep of my change of circumstances, and the rep this time gave me two options -
1 / Lower the tariff right down to their lowest monthly cost, at £15 per month, BUT they'll extend my contract by a further 6 months...
OR
2 / They'll credit my monthly bills with a discount of £10 each month, if I keep the tariff as it is. The discount will be applied every month, for the next 6 months (when they'll then review the situation). This way, I'll keep the same inclusive minutes / texts / data, and my contract won't be extended.
Sounds like a no - brainer, so I asked her what the catch was with option 2. 'No catch' she said.
Before any changes, I need to pay off the remaining £40 of arrears on my account (agreement previously in place) next Friday. Once I've paid that off, I'll then call T - Mobile again with my decision re lowering the tariff or going for the discount.
What do you guys think?
While I was very grateful to the T - Mobile rep trying to help me by offering the discount, £25 a month is still too much for me at the moment.
So, a tariff downgrade to £15 a month might be better. I could do without them extending the contract by 6 months though!
Anyone with any experience of this with T - Mobile / anyone who works for them on here?
Many Thanks - Sim.

What do I think? You are a very, very lucky person indeed. The only one I have ever heard of who, after 3 months and getting a free Iphone, who already has arrears on the contract, has been offered a tariff reduction.
Either is a good result, but, given that you admit to having debts, I would go for the cheaper monthly option and speak less on the mobile to cope with the reduced minutes.0 -
Of course, having total disregard for T-Mobile's "customer service" and as a cynic I could presume that once they've collected the arrears any offers promised would suddenly disappear. Having said that, being in a arrears is a no-no in the first place (that's me being fair to the opposition!).0

you're lucky they are doing this, the T&C's state you cannot move down your price plan until the last month of the contract0
