Swapping SIM cards

All,

Sorry, if a simple question:

I have a quad band phone "Pay as you go" that is actually my ex-girlfriends contract.

As we split, can I purchase in my name a basic "Pay as you go" phone and just put the new SIM card into my old phone handset?

The basic phones seem only to be Dual band - is the band specification related to the SIM or just the physical handset?

Many thanks,
John

Yes you can do what you want to although you need to get a SIM from the same network or get the phone unlocked.

Quad band is a feature of the phone, not the SIM. If you aren't planning on using it outside the EU, it won't matter.

Unlocking is only necessary if it is locked to begin with.

Thank you for your replies. That is good to know. I shall be using the same network.

Planning to visit USA and possibly NZ.

Not sure it will work there; I believe that's where the number of "bands" comes in.

Quadband Phone will normally work in USA and New Zealand.
