Vodafone, will our phones work in france ?

Hi, my wife and I are both pay as you go, on vodafone, I do the £5 family + friends thing so we can call each other , will this still work in France , also can we text others in uk from there how much does it cost . just wonderiing if its worth taking them at all.

It will work, but the rates will NOT BE THE SAME AS IN THE UK, so think carefully about if you really need to take the phones with you, your phone credit will not last long at all, best to do your homework before setting off, we hqave seen too many t**t stories on the forum of late, although yours is payg.

Your 5 pounds plus friends familey definatley wont work you will be charged roaming charges plus any incoming calls you will also be charged for.

If your going to france a lot you can buy french sims paygo sims off of ebay but they are about 17 pounds with 5 euro credit and will cut the cost if people need to make incoming calls to you.

Thanks all, for your replies, Yes I phoned them , Friends+Family wont work, but phones will at higher rates. 36p p/m to make a call, 11p p/m to receive, text 11p. so we will just text each other if we need to i guess, only for emergencies anyway. thanks
