"Also when I put an entry in the diary on one laptop I would like that to be able to show on the other laptop."
You state you are running MS Office, so I am assuming that you are using Outlook for your email / calender.
No doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the facilty to share calendars or diaries is only available if you are running Microsoft Exchange with Office.
I am using outlook and using outlook diary to do list etc.
What is microsoft exchange please0 -
Exchange is a server application primarily for business use.
It is expensive, and you would probably not be using it on a small office setup.
With Exchange all user data is stored on the server and so is accessible to anyone with the correct access permissions.
In your case data is stored locally on the 2 x PCs
The "Share Calendar" option is not available in Outlook without Exchange.
I have also been trying to share my Outlook calendar across the home network, but have hit the same problem.
I gave up and purchased a desk diary.0 -
As far as sharing files is concerned, you can set up a shared folder on one machine which can be accessed by the other. There's a description of how to do it here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Share-files-with-someone
I have shared an Outlook calendar across a network without Exchange. Been a while though and someone on here may have a simple explanation of how to do it.
