You get charged the ATM fee whatever card you use.

Most ATMs in the US make a charge of some sort - usually a $ or so

Thanks that is what I thought.

I know the charges for a DC are from $1.50 up to about $5 on the Vegas strip, which would be the same I assume for the prepaid card, those charges I can accept

    but

It is the post by Ferf that has me worried about the extra charges for withdrawing on a CC..$31.99 for withdrawing $500:eek:

We've used a prepaid card in casino ATMs to withdraw cash and it would seem it was treated as a debit card as we did not have any charges other than the $4.99 we would have been charged for a debit card.

There's a US Bank on Flamingo not too far east of LVB...even walkable...probably about twice the distance on Flamingo as it is to the Westin from the corner of Flamingo and LVB. Probably other proper banks I haven't noticed (I have an acct with US Bank, so I notice them)...I can undersand how the casino ATMs would hit CC advances hard - because they can I suppose? Or maybe to act as a deterrant for those who might otherwise go too far into CC debt getting cash advances to gamble with?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Do you think that the US bank on Flamingo will have a different charging structure, ie no difference between debit and Credit cards

Is that better than the Fx card? and no I dont live anywhere near London.

Do you still get charged the ATM fee when using a preloaded card, if so then my Clarity card would still be the best bet (I think) unless of course I am going to walloped by a $20 charge because it is a CC.

I do have back ups, for withdrawals like a nationwide debit card not great I know

It's better than all of your alternatives, bar the Clarity. Though of course it is better than the Clarity in the case that zagfles describes.

I think it's possible but never having done it I don't know for sure - would be going on what zagfles has said that the casino ATM charges for CCs aren't normal and assuming that a bank's ATM would be more normal (though maybe Vegas ATMs in general are a bit weird?)...when are you off? We'll be making a stop at that US Bank during our Sept trip anyway and I was planning on scouting this out a bit for my own reference.

Or maybe we could call them and ask what their ATMs charge for CC cash advances...(702) 737-7127 is the branch's number...I'm really curious about this now. :)

I don't think I have ever withdrawn cash from an ATM in Vegas, bank or casino (I've always been lucky enough to leave with more money than I turned up with :j) so can't offer advice on Vegas specifically. I just remember seeing the very high charges in the ATMs in the casino, I'd never consider using one of these any more than a charging ATM in the UK eg in corner shops.

In fact I've not been to the US for over 10 years so my knowledge may be out of date, but I certainly remember withdrawing from normal bank ATMs and I'm pretty sure I wasn't charged. But other people may have more up to date info...

Have def been charged from a normal banks ATM last year and Ferf I am going in Aug. Luci has replied on the vegas thread that she wasnt charged at Casino Royale for using her Clarity card other than the $1 fee, so it looks like that is the road I should go down.

    ps

I have emailed the US bank

Note that I only used a normal ATM, not one of those you see in the casinos for credit cards.

A 3.00USD charge to use a bank ATM when withdrawing using my Metrobank card seems fairly normal in the States.
