Anyone having/had any problems with the new HSBC VISA debit card chip? I have just had to order my third card in 6 months. I've had debit cards that have been in pieces but the last one that has broken looks like new.

Where do you keep your card? In a wallet/purse, or in your pocket? If it's the latter then damage is almost inevitable... 3 cards in six months is a lot.urs sinserly,

My mums broke as well. The cash machine broke it.“Washing one's hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral. ”

yep mine broke. i generally get through a card every 12 months or so but the final straw was when it was rejected so went to a hsbc card machine where it said there was a problem with the chip. The woman said to me the other day that if it sits with other cards this could be a problem:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

You should stop keeping it in your back pocket, mate.
Working for a bank, I've seen many customers, who have brough their broken cards.
Yet, I've had tens of cards in my life and never had a single one of them to brake.0 -
Also could be the size of the wallet, (wallets do tend to bend the cards)• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
The back pocket is a major problem.0

I keep in my back pocket yes, but all my other cards are highly resilient. I'm thinking this new HSBC visa debit chip is a little sensitive. Might have to wrap it up cotton wool.....0 -
The first time my chip wasnt registering, I checked my bag, my wallett, my surrounding area for magnets and apart from the weak one on my bag clasp I had no magnets near my cards.
Most shops do not accept cards with faulty chips so I now have had quite a few embarassing shopping experiences!
I am now waiting for my third card to arrive...... I am now trawling bag shops to find one without magnets, but surely nearly every woman would be having the same kind of trouble as I have had?!0 -
I don't think I have have ever had a chip break on me - the only time I get new cards is renewal time.0

Same here - I've even left cards on top of hifi speakers and they still work fine, so I don't think it's the one on your belt clasp.
I've even managed to completely remove the coating and most of the print on the card after finding it in the washing machine. Still worked and used it at the bank to prove my identity (chip and pin) before ordering a replacement.0
