accounts with £250 cheque guarantee

I know Barclays platinum offers a 250 limit for cheque guarantee but are there any other accounts out there which give a 250 guarantee limit with no fee for the account (and preferably some non-negligible interest on credit balances!)? I do use the debit card facility mostly but do prefer having the chq gtee too.
Many thanks in advance.

A Google search for '£250 cheque guarantee', returns several options...HSBC, Leeds Building Society etc.

Natwest have a Servicecard 250 Maestro. Available with a regular current plus account as well I believe. My Dad has one and he hasn't got an advantage Gold account (not that i'm aware of). Not sure if there is any minimum income required for it though?
  • Out of interest, How often do you pay for things over £100 with a cheque? (Or does the limit apply to things other than guaranteeing cheques?)
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • You find that the 'premier' account at most banks will give you that level of guarantee. But they all charge a monthly fee at around £10-15.

Thanks; barclays platinum is fee free but was hoping for something similar with better service but first direct and smile appear to offer only £100 cards.
  • Another potential, and slightly less straightforward, solution would be to apply for a Co-operative Bank Platinum Advantage Credit Card which comes with a cheque guarantee facility of £250. Then, apply for the standard current account that has no monthly fee - unfortunately no interest on balances though. A fee-free solution.

Do you think the flat rate platinum would have the same facility? I was thinking of getting one of those anyway to (kind of) replace my cahoot flexible loan facility which I've cancelled (in disgust). Does anyone have one and able to confirm - thanks.

Less than 5 times a year but like the option to be there.
