Debit card transfer limit with Santander?

I'll probably be able to find this out tomorrow but hopefully someone may know the answer tonight.
Does anyone know the debit card limit to transfer money.
I have an Alliance & Leicester Premier account with a Santander credit/debit card.
i've just opened a Santander e-saver with money drawn from Santander Instant Access account in branch. Brilliant service by the way. This is so I can now apply on-line for NS&I certificates and send the money via my debit card.
However I'm not sure of the limit, when I opened the e-saver and told the assistant what I was doing, she seemed to think that I could send a higher limit through using the Santander webpage rather than Alliance & Leicester, which has confused me somewhat.
Has anyone any ideas or has done this?

Just answering my own question for other interested posters.
There is a daily limit of 25k but if more is needed you are given a phone number when applying to transfer money.Apparently the limit is changed daily and not even the staff know what it is.
This is for security reasons and I assume answering these questions correctly that the limit will be lifted for that transaction.
Just completed the transfer and have now purchased my NS&I certificate. I rang their freephone number 0500 007 007 and the whole process took place instantly, apparently it is quicker to do the process over the phone and I was connected immediately. I suppose the initial mad rush is now over:)0 -
I cannot believe you got Santander to give you a straight answer to a direct question so I doubt it is correct
We opened 2 on the same day at £15K each from the same account but different debit card numbers without any problem. I purchased a car for £5K and my card was declined when I went to tax it the same day. Another time I purchased a £9K car which went through as £5K and £4K straight after each other with no security so there is probably no logic to their system.

I could have rang the number given for a higher withdrawal but thought I'd leave it until tomorrow and just do it the normal way.
NS&I said my O.H. would have to use his debit card (joint account) which is fair enough. whilst I was on on-line banking i could have set up the other payment for tomorrow anyway but I'd had enough sorting out for one day.:)
NS&I also told me that with the phone application that they did the electronic check immediately and if the transfer had been rejected I would be told there and then, rather than by e-mail if applying on-line.
However if it had failed, they don't keep any details of the original application and you have to start from scratch.0
