Is data switched on on the handset?0

Have you sent MMS's before? There has to be an MMS item on your account or you can't send them. Which means you need to talk to CS to get it added, sorry!0

ok, i have phoned virgin again. I have now recieved and sent pictures but only ones downloaded from computer. If I take a picture using the phones camera it will not send, just gets stuck on sending. I have noticed the size of these pic are 190kb, is this why? and if so, how do I make them smaller. Thanks0

The handsets usually convert them to a size smaller than 300kb (the limit for mms)0 -
Did you ever get this fixed? I am with O2 and have some phone & problem. If pic is too big it gets converted to less than 300kb automatically, but still gets stuck at 'sending' and never sends. I have tried reducing resolution before taking a pic to make it as small a size as possible but that doesn't work either.
My husband who has an ancient old 'dim' phone doesn't have any problems sending or receiving pics, but if he trys to send me one all I get is that it is downloading, but it never does.
It is most frustrating as I have never had this problems with any of my previous non-smartphones. I have yet to call O2 but will post any info I get here0 -
You need to ensure you have your data connection up and running in order to send and receive pictures and also that you are in range for data to connect to your phone.
I'm presuming your contract with O2 includes a data allowance otherwise this could cause problems.0 -
I got a Pay monthly Galaxy Ace in April (with a bolt on data plan) and have always thought that my 3G service on this was much too slow. It is painful waiting for pages to refresh. Whereas using Wi-fi at home it goes like a whippet.
I have not been able to send or receive pictures on this phone, no matter how small. It just hangs forever saying it's sending or downloading. I wasn't all that concerned until last week when my husband tried to send me something important and I couldn't view it. So today I phoned O2 to try and get this sorted.
The girl at O2 resent me the configuration settings that I had previously downloaded, but this didn't make any difference. She then talked me through the APN settings but these were ok. She thinks the problem is probably because my SIM card was old (it was issued 2005) and is likely to be only a 2G one, so wouldn't be as effective as a 3G one. I didn't think to mention the slowness of the 3G service, but suspect this will be related to the same issue as the picture messaging.
She is sending me a new SIM which will be for my existing number. Once received I am to phone O2 to get it activated and set up so that it will work properly. I will need to transfer my files, etc., to my PC using Samsung Kies first then upload this to the new SIM, but hopefully everything will be ok.
So if you have an old SIM this could be the cause of a number of problems. Hope this helps. I will post on here again if I get this resolved

As a follow on from my post on Thursday I went onto Kies to back up my contacts, etc., and discovered that there was a firmware update for Gingerbread 2.3.3 - think I only had version 2.1 before. I therefore updated this. I then received my replacement sim card on Saturday and since installing it I now have 3G & H connections, I only had G (not 3G) & E showing before. So phone now goes much faster AND I can finally receive pictures. Result!0
