The mincer in the lakeland link [or something very very similar] is sold at a place called the range in Kidderminster for £4.99 if that's useful to anyone. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0

I bought a mincer last week it was £12.99 from peter maturi and sons. We were very excited (yes we're awfully sad lol) as we had been wanting one for 3 years and had never seen one.
It seems to be really good so far0 -
I was given a cast iron mincer for Christmas. I am wondering how I can best use this.
Can I use it to mince cooked meats i.e. beef and then use that to make a shepherds pie?
What are the best cuts of chicken to use in a mincer?
Any help appreciated..;)0 -
You can use it for cooked meats, just add gravy and veg. Sometimes it helps to put a piece of bread through at the end to get all the meat out.
I'd mince whatever meat I had to hand, for chicken breast meat would be easier but no reason why you couldn't mince boneless thighs or anything boneless. If you've cooked the chicken, you could strip the meat and then mince it. I don't traditionally mince chicken though, I tend to use it in chunks. Not sure why, habit I suppose!
I'm jealous of your mincer, I spent ages trying to find an old fashioned one but then realised that I didn't have a worktop that was suitable to clamp it onto and the suction ones I found to be rubbish!
I've got a mincer attachment that goes on the kenwood now, I'm contemplating getting it out to mince some left over beef this afternoon, if I can get up the energy to get off my bum though!Piglet

lucky you - these are great and I remember my mum mincing up cooked beef / lamb etc for shepherds / cottage pie. Not sure if they'd be so good in a bolognese, but this was before pasta hit the nation! early 80s late 70sMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

It also helps to put a slice of stale bread through first, just to clean out any rust or dirt that may have accumulated whilst not in use

I've been thinking about getting a miner and sausage maker for my Kenwood Chef. Would you recommend it or is it too fiddly?? Many thanks :j,0
