I have just bought OH a burger maker from Lakeland.
He is in the kitchen happily playing with his new toy.
I have had real problems convincing him of money saving so glad I found something that works
So instead of buying mince he would like to do his own. Can you still buy the old type mincing machine or is the alternative a food procesor?
Fond memories of my Mum spending hours mincing

You can still buy them but give e-bay a go first before you buy one
new as they can work out quite expensive. It's a shame it's not summer as you can always pick them up from bootsales for about 50p.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
You can buy mincers. The best one, IMO, is the Moulinex. I think you can still get them from John Lewis, etc. It has a 600w motor. I've just given mine to my Mum, now that I have bought the mincer attachment for my Kenwood FM.
You can also buy the old fashioned manual ones that you clamp to the table -there's a lot on Ebay, I think.
I have an electric mincer going spare. It's not as powerful as the Moulinex, but you're welcome to it for the price of the postage. Also comes with the sausage stuffer tube thing.TL0 -
AWT one in Argos which is a meat grinder and a sausage maker in one is about £70. Thats the only one I have seen in an actual shop. Sure other places will do them. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200

Our local Makro have one at the moment - so others might if you know someone with a card. A lot cheaper than Argos, but sorry can't remember exactly how much (i keep thinking it's a masticating juicer - which I really want 'cause I want to grow & juice wheatgrass)
Does mincing your own work out cheaper? I was under the impression that it doesn't?

My mum and dad bought me a manual one a few weeks ago and I love it. They're selling on amazon new for £12 and you clamp it to the surface before mincing away. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0

you can sign up for emails from both aldi & lidl and they will email you all their specials weekly.
i imagine it would be cheaper depending on the quality of mince you normally buy, if you looked out for good reductions and minced this up. you could also mince up leftover roast etc. i imagine the main thing is that you know exactly what is in your mince. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -
Lakeland does one for £24. It works on a suction principle, is easy to clean, and comes with different sized blades inc something for pasta and something for sausages.

FOr such a relatively low outlay, it would be worth giving it a go to see how you get on with it. If you really get into it and find it too small (or whatever) then you could sell it on Ebay and upgrade to a metal one0 -
What type of steak is right to use in the mincer? I guess I don't need fillet, but is stewing steak OK or should I go for rump?
I make quite a lot of mince based meals for the rest of the family and was wondering about making my own mince. I have a 'Porkert mincer' mincer which I bought years ago from a hardware store, and thought that it would be better to produce my own mince as I know what goes into it (not keen on all the connective tissue etc that goes into cheap mince).
Thanks,
