Cheapest way to make calls/send texts whilst visiting visiting Istanbul, Turkey?

Hi All,

I have viewed the tariffs for Lebara and Lyca for when I visit Istanbul however they are so expensive... In the region of £1.80 min to make a call and even £1.70 min to receive a call and 30p to send texts...

Does anybody know of any cheaper options?

Local sim card or turn the phone off.

Depends where you want to call and how often though, one off or ermegency calls you live with the cost but even if you got a turkish sim calling the UK will be expensive on that sim.

To receive calls for free either get a local SIM or something like GlobalSIM which will allow incoming calls at no charge - but callers based in the UK are ringing a UK mobile number rather than a Turkish mobile number, and to call home to the UK is about 36p a minute.
