Try solarcentre they do decent sized solar lights. I got a solar powered security light and that should be fine for garage if its just nipping in and out

I'm very keen on solar power and have got solar water panels which are excellent.
My experiment with solar lighting has been disappointing.
They simply do not provide enough light for me.
I have now replaced with one of the new inexpensive (Wickes) lower energy halogen fittings which is so much better.
    Forgotten but not gone.

Sorry I did not make it clear , but unfortunately I have had to revert to running on mains.

i was thinking of getting mains electricity to the garage but it would cost in the region of £500... so I thought maybe a solar one would be more economical..

Planning permission will be required in certain circumstances.
I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.

Have you considered fitting a sun tunnel? It would be a doddle to install in a garage... http://www.solatube.co.uk/trade/solatube-product-range/sizing-and-applications/index.php
