Tempur memory foam mattresses

Does anyone feel they're worth it?

They are hideously expensive but I love my sleep so I'll consider anything that may improve it.

Lots of people around me have them, and seem to be so happy about it. However, i did not get it myself (instead went for Dunlopillo) because i don't like the fact that Tempur can get quite warm in the night (as it moulds to heat).

Besides, when i was shopping for mattress, i learned that there are many things to take into consideration, e.g weight, sleep pattern, preference of sleeping warm VS cool, etc etc. So the best advice is, go to your local dealer and try them out, you should be able to tell the difference between the best one for you in an instant!:D

P.S. go to the bigger shops such as John Lewis even if you might not buy from them, because they are more likely to give you unbiased advice, instead of trying to sell you every mattress you tried on. And if you are buying the mattress for you and your partner, it is the best that you try it at the same time, so you know both of your are comfortable lying next to each other.

:ohubby and I slept ( I use the term loosely) on a tempur on holiday. We hated it. I've no doubt they work for some people, who I suspect are lithe young things. Being on the larger body size, we found that the foam heated up, moulded to our bodies, then sort of gave way under the heaviest bits, so that we ended up almost folded in half.

Too hot & not supportive enough for the more generously proportioned beings like myself !:o

Not good for fat people, they make you very hot, its like being raped by a marshmellow, and they are not very good for your moments of passion. All valid feedback I have had while doing the same research. Now looking for a decent pocketsprung instead.

If your looking at that kind of money, try a water bed. Never got too hot or too cold as you can adjust the temperature. Moulds around your body, top cover comes of and goes in the wash. Underneath you just wipe with a damp cloth. Extremely comfy and hygienic.

Hmmm, thanks but not sure about this. My biggest concern is the weight of this. In a king size bed it could be a couple of hundred kgs......

No different to 6-8 people stood in your bedroom. Unless you live in a straw house honestly no problems with weight what so ever. It's all in your head.

When have you ever heard of a waterbed coming through the roof apart from TV when it was used for comedy effect?

I have one now in my 1984 2 up, 2 down house. It used to be in a grade 2 listed convert Old Mill 2nd floor flat.

I fell on the memory foam bandwagon, and I'm sorry to say that I hate it. To me they are just not as comfortable as the pocket sprung mattresses. Can't wait to change it.

My Parents-In-Law are on the larger side (both tall, big boned and enjoy their food!) and they bought a memory foam. FIL can't tell the difference, MIL thinks it's absolutely amazing and totally recommended. she purposefully bought a "firm" version to support them better. She also 'overheats' at night, but hasn't had a problem with the new mattres

I had a lie down to try it and I don't think it's my cup of tea.

I tried memory foam though not the Tempur brand. It was a disaster. I am actually quite a cold sleeper but I roasted! Kept having to turn when the bits next to the mattress got cooked. Which did my bad back no good at all. The manufacturers do know there is a problem and some have what is supposed to be a cooling overlay. Don't know if that works. Apparently you can also get different grades of density as well as thickness but not going there again. I don't think you can beat a quality pocket sprung.
