    of course you can fix it - if you both want to and both make the effort.
    the fact you asked this question shows you love him and want it to work. I think its sensible to wait for a baby until you are settled in your career and finacially stable.
    you say you don't know the area - go out and explore! get to know your local shop keeper - they know everyone! just having a friendly hello when you pop to get mlk can make a lot of difference.
    are there local pubs and resturants? treat yourself to some time together, talk about your future plans and explain why you feel the way you do.

    I have to admit I know very few guys who would chose to go to the theatre rather then being dragged along by their OHs (might just be the guys I know!). Have you tried sitting down with him and just saying that you'd like to do more things together and what does he think sounds fun? What kind of things is he interested in?
