Also would steer clear of Hotpoint washers. It can be difficult to clean the filter and mine went to the great washing machines in the sky after 3 years. Have previously had an Indesit and it was great.

Indesit own hotpoint and all hotpoint washing machines are made by indesit.

    A good point - I didn't know this.
In fact googling it, there seem to be a fair amount of warnings about both names.
It's a long time since my Indesit days. I think they were a separate brand then.
3rd post down here says who owns what. Don't know if it is current

It may have been a separate brand then but it's actually the quality of hotpoint washers that have been dragged down rather than the other way, since indesit closed hot points factory and moved it all to their own the brand has been a disaster.

I have to agree. Hotpoint has been going slowly downhill for a few years now. And it's not just washing machines, their current product range is pretty poor. Even the "Openspace" ovens that they launched a couple of years ago hasn't done much to improve their brand identity. The sooner Indesit realise what they are doing to the Hotpoint brand, the better.

Quality wise, I'd put them on a par with a fair few "own" brand appliances and the likes of Smeg, CDA etc etc...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I'd steer clear of integrated appliances unless you really hate the look of freestanding. They are usually more expensive and smaller capacity.

The built in fridge freezer in my kitchen annoys me every day!

John Lewis often include an extra year or two guarantee to white goods so it may be worth checking whether a higher price from them is outweighed by the extra guarantee period.

I agree about freestanding. I'd only buy integrated cooker and dishwasher, but never fridge freezer or washing machine.
  • I've recently been looking for a cooker and cooker hood and came across this website which has some good products and good deals - http://www.premierrange.co.uk/glass-cooker-hoods. I still haven't decided if I'll go anything from there as I'm just starting to look but I'm going to check out the other links given here as there looks to be some good stuff there.
