lazy selfish people !!!!!!!

I am so angry at the people who have cats and fail to get them neutered. Why have an animal at all if you are not going to ensure that they won't roam and leave loads of unwanted kittens in their wake. I have 2 cats and have been feeding a feral cat for 8 years. Now i find that i am feeding another stray. He is a domesticated very friendly, but a full tom. Consequently he has seen my feral off and half killed my own old cat. Good enough the cats protection gave me a voucher to have him neutered free so that i can try to get somebody to take him. He is only about 2 years old, plenty of time for his owners to have had him seen to.
We have tried every cat rescue and RSPCA and nobody will take him. I have explained that i am in my mid 70s and dh is nearly 80 and the cat has attacked me twice. We are to old to take on a young animal, and i fear for my own who are both old.
The excuse will be i suppose that it's to expensive, but if you can't afford to have this basic thing done, DON'T GET THE ANIMAL.

    Nodding my head here.
Our local paper and the free ads paper has loads of kittens every night for sale. Shop windows, G*mtree you get the idea.
And as for the dogs round here who haven't been done and get out wandering in search of a lady dog don't get me started
Hope you get things sorted with the stray cat.

I've lived with cats and dogs all my life and the one thing my mother taught me was the most important thing about owning a cat/dog is not to be selfish and get them neutered. it may help calm them down reducing in fights and will stop unwanted accidents.

we got a kitten a few weeks after our neighbors did. We were waiting for our kitten to be the right age to be neutered. They got a male kitten and even now (8months later) still have not had him done! First few weeks with our kitten we couldn't even leave the back door open or go play with her in the back garden because the male cat was constantly trying to do the dirty with her! it got to the point where when we closed the back door, he had learnt to open it. it used to let himself in and spray where he could. it drove me crazy and i had mentioned it to the neighbors. I got a reassuring response from them, but you can tell they still have done nothing! luckily our older male cat is very protective of our kitten now. but it drives me crazy!

Our girl cat had an accidental pregnancy (rescued stray, very small and thin when we got her and the vet couldn't tell her age and thought we had a few months to get her neutered, but the op was booked and cat came into season and escaped from the house the day she was due at the vets) but we found good homes for the kittens before they were born (could have given them away 3x over!) - if we hadn't been certain of that we would have had her spayed and the pregnancy terminated rather than bringing unwanted kittens into the world.

She is now snipped, and her daughter (the kitten I'm keeping) is going to be done as soon as possible, she's 15 weeks now so not too long to wait. I'm not leaving anything to chance with her.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.
  • I agree with you OP. Nothing more annoying than the smell of entire Tom, treating the abscesses on your own neutered cats when they are attacked by one, or the moodiness/calling of a Queen on heat.

Just get them neutered and they are so much better company!!!!!!!!!

Forgive me if I've got this wrong but you are feeding a stray cat thats attacked you and your animals ? Why are you feeding it? just ignore it and it will find somewhere else to hang about and leave you and your animals in peace..:)

My last dog was a Jack Russell who due to his hatred of other dogs never went anywhere without been on a short lead. He wasn't neutered at an early age and at the age of 13 had to have a tumour removed which the vet said was due to him been an elderly dog that hadn't been neutered, he had the op to remove the tumour and be neutered but it took him several days to revover, where as a young dog would have bounced back straight away. It's much easier and cheaper just to have the op done when there young and avoid any complications.

My 2 male dogs aren't neutered because they are shown but they don't get offlead unless no dogs are around so no chance of getting anything pregnant. With cats.. It anoys me so much. My neighbour uses unneutered male cats as a way to make money with her female :( Another cat here is so covered in matts and was left out all winter in the snow.. Luckily some of us neighbours buy spare food to feed it since the SSPCA won't do anything

I have owned cats for years and have never had one that's not neutered, it really is so selfish.

Yes, it is nice to see a cute litter of little kitties, but there are so many abandoned and unwanted ones, it really makes me sad. :(

    I agree wholeheartedly!
There used to be a stray tom round here, who would force his way thru my locked catflap with brute strength, eat all my cats food and spray all over the house - even up the kettle, curtains, bed etc - just gross!
Nobody roundabout owned him, no collar or chip, so he was duly caught and shipped off to the RSPCA
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
