Pay monthly car
Hey,
I'm currently living at home, insured on my mum's Nissan Micra, which I pretty much have full use of, because I work all over the north-west, but my mum is often talking about getting her own car and I too would like my own car.
I have no savings, but make at least £1000 a month with work and would like to get a car, so since I have no money back to buy one, the best bet seems to get some kind of pay monthly car or car renting or something..
There seems to be two problems with this; 1) High monthly interest, 2) Low capped milage (I'd need AT LEAST 10k a year)
Anyone know anywhere that solves the problems?
Thanks

Firstly, you don't state whether you've got your own insurance policy or not. If not, you need to stop fronting, pronto.
Beyond that, you've two principal options - a PCP scheme to rent-to-buy a car...try newcar4me.com - or you can lease eg nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk - can get something half decent for just over £100 on each. Will need a small deposit / high first payment for each, but not much.
Both seem to be decent value and will have you driving a new car around. Saves you ever having to pay MOT anyway. You're more or less paying for the depreciation of the car in each case, if you're with the "car as a service" model, you pay your money and take your choice.
Local garages *will* let you do PCP etc on second hand cars - but the rates normally mean you'll end up paying more, for longer, than getting a new one through newcar4me...
ETA: you can increase the mileage on either...it will just cost you more.0 -

You and your mother are running the risk of being prosecuted for an illegal practice called "fronting." This is where the main driver of a vehicle is not the person stated as such on an insurance policy. It is treated as fraud and insurance companies almost always prosecute if you are caught. There are severe penalties and sanctions applied if the prosecution is successful.

Is it really fronting if the OP is insured on their mothers car, as stated?
I'm a bit confused with the OP anyway, you're using your mums Micra yet she's thinking of getting her own car, as are you so that'll be three cars...why don't you get your own car and let mum use hers? or am i missing something.0 -
Or if she wants another car buy the Micra off her?14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

Thanks for the responses.
We're not fronting. I have my own insurance, and she has her own insurance, we just both use the same car.
My mum wants a new car, and she wants to sell the Micra in order to get it, and I don't particularly want to buy the Micra tbh.
I'll check out the websites posted.
Thanks again.0 -
you are not insuring the same vehicle twice are you, surely?0

She's insuring the vehicle and herself on it and I'm insuring myself to drive it.0

could you not just be added as a named driver?0

Are you saying that you have a separate insurance policy, just to drive the car?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
