We are trying to bring down our monthly costs, we have always in the past gone with virgin media for phone tv and internet packages, and for the last year we have been with sky for the same sort of bundle.
We have now cancelled sky and gone for a free sat box.
We have a few weeks before the phone and broadband are disconnected, so really need to find a good deal for these.
Talk Talk seem to be very good on price, but we use the internet a lot, run 3 laptops and online gaming, so im wondering if talk talk would be able to cope with our high usage
Got to be honest and admit i dont really know what im talking about when it comes to MB and connection speeds ect, so can anyone help and point me in the right direction?
Basically we need a reliable internet connection and one that can cope with high usuage. Any ideas please?

Forget TalkTalk and continue to get your broadband from Sky - reverse your cancellation ASAP. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
You are getting the best deal with Sky (assuming Unlimited broadband LLU).
Advise as above.
PS You could have saved money by not buying another box, and just getting freesat from Sky. If you miss the Sky + features these can be had as a stand alone for £10/month.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Do you want a phone line?
One option to look at, achieve the bare minimum spend together with decent performance and high usage is probably Virgin Media's basic 10Mbps cable package and no phone line at all. That does not give the value of the bundled deal but is presumably cheaper than having both. I don't know whether or not a setup fee is imposed to reconnect it.
Otherwise, you're probably not going to get cheaper than Sky for heavy usage and going anywhere else may well incur either a migration fee (about £45) if you pay your line rental to Sky and it's what's called "fully unbundled", or if you want total choice among other providers, a "new line fee" (yes, even though there's a perfectly good line and socket).0 -
If you cancel your line rental, then you'll be paying a reconnection fee on top of any other expenditure. You can't have ADSL broadband without paying line rental to someone. And wireless broadband simply won't support the usage that you are indicating.
You seem to be under the impression that you can't have Sky broadband without the TV sub-you can.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone.
After speaking to OH, i find that the TV is all he has cancelled for now, the free sat HD box he has installed today. He was aware that you can get freesat from sky, but went with buying a box anyway......im just relieved theres no more SKY SPORTS NEWS :rotfl:
So for now we are sticking with the sky for broadband and phone, but will also look into virgin for broadband, or look into seeing if we can increase skys broadband, we both feel that compared to our old broadband service with virgin, sky can sometimes be a little slower
a House filled with teenagers certainly takes it toll on the broad band usuage!!
Thanks again, at least we are a little clearer in where to look
