Renewal Tax Credits - will continuing payment be based on Apr 2010 to Apr 2011?

I made an error on my renewal pack and put my husband's full annual earning for the job he has just started in Jan 2011 in the Partner income box on the form. Prior to him qualifying as a nurse and starting work in Jan 2011, for the period Apr 2010 to Dec 2010 he was on a bursary which was not taken into account as income by the HMRC.

Last week my working tax credit was stopped. I only got £56 per week as Child Tax Credit for my 3 teenagers. When I made a query on here, I later realised, from comments of a forum member on here, that the renewal pack asks for earnings from Apr 2010 to Apr 2011.

I this morning phoned the HMRC and apologised for my error and have now given them the total of my husband's pay slips for Jan 2011 (he started work then) + Feb 2011 + Mar 2011 and also my earnings for Apr 2010 to Apr 2011 which has not changed. The total I have given them is £13,889 for Apr 2010 to Apr 2011 joint.

The HMRC rep also asked me for an estimate of what my husband's earnings will be over the following year. I gave the figure of £17,242 and mine the same of £10,931.

My questions:
When I gave the HMRC the figure for 2011 to 2012 in error, they stopped my working tax credit within 2 weeks. Last week I only got Child Tax Credit of £56 weekly instead for the 3 children and no working tax credit.

But now that I have corrected my error, will I be paid working tax credit from Apr 2011 to Apr 2012 as well as my Child Tax Credit element? If so, should I be expecting about £144 per week appx? The calculator on the HMRC calculated about £144 per week but that is never quite what the HMRC comes out with though right?

Or will the HMRC take my husband's estimated yearly wage into account already and stop my working tax credit immediately?

Thanks for your input if you manage to understand my questions.

As I said in the other thread they'll pay you based on £18173 ie £28173 minus the 10k disregard. This will be a little too high for WTC but you'll get almost max CTC. With 3 kids it'll be about £154 a week.

But it will drop a lot from April 2012, you will get some (in the other thread I assumed you only had 1 child), about £75 a week.

After I filled in the renewal form, albeit wrongly with next year's figures, HMRC stopped my WTC completely and gave me £56 per week despite having 3 children though.

How much did you get between start of the tax year and when the renewal was processed? If it was a lot more than £75 then it would have been lower to take back the "overpayment" in the renewal window.

I've been getting £170 weekly joint WTC and CTC for about a year now.

When I sent in the renewal form in June 2011, I began to get only £56 weekly for the CTC and no longer any WTC. My 3 children are all 16 and under and in full time education.

I must also add when I informed the HMRC of my husband starting work in Jan 2011, they asked me how much he is estimated to earn and how many hours he works - I overestimated how much he will earn but gave them the right number of working hours.

Right, so because you got £170pw for part of the tax year you were going to get a lower amount for the rest of the tax year - it would have averaged to about £75pw.

But that was based on the wrong info - now you should get about £154pw again averaged over the tax year, so it'll probably be a bit less as you got more in the renewal window.

And it'll drop to about £75 next April.
