Question about PPi?

Hi there,
I just got an email from my OH saying he wants to claim his PPi back from the following:
One car loan dated 10 years ago, which was settled 9years ago
Another car loan dated 2003 paid in 2004
A loan for sofa 1100 in 2004 settled in 2007
One credit card for halifax account with around a £2100 limit, paid in full and closed down in 2004
Egg credit with a £300 limit, paid in full in 2007 and closed down.
We know the first car loan was with Black Horse and the sofa definitely was, but we are unsure about who the second loan is, I recall seeing a blackhorse finance agreement, so think its them.
First...how does he go about proving that he has loans and credit cards? He unfortunately lost all his paperwork in a fire so we have nothing but memory at the moment. Of course the first two loans are not on his Credit Report, neither is one of the credit cards.
Second...who does he need to get in touch with? Is there a company who do not charge a fee that will help you?

First, contact the lenders you're sure about and ask them for more details. Depending how helpful they are he might be able to do this by phone instead of a letter.
Some useful information about how to do this here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step1
(This will narrow down which loans relate to which company)
The next stage is to make the complaint to the lender, explaining why he believes the PPI was missold and giving as much information about the various sales as he can. It's easy to make the complaint, and a lot cheaper than using a claims company. I think it unlikely there are companies who would do it for free, how would they pay their employees?0 -
