Excel Parking / Roxburghe / 'Graham White'

Posting this as a new thread: as a newbie I posted it in the wrong place.

I would like to express my gratitude for all the advice that has been posted here. My partner was issued with a 40.00 fine by Excel Parking after she forgot to display her ticket after purchase. The attendant said just write to them with copies of the ticket / parking charge notice and it shouldn't be a problem... If only I knew then what I know now!

An appeal letter was duly despatched and it was only then that I started doing a little research, which brought me here. My problem was that I feared my partner would scare and pay. But I printed out all the letters we were / are going to receive in advance (from this thread) and now when each one arrives we have a laugh at the 'additional charges' (all bull****) and decide which new design of paper plane we'll turn it into this time.

Excel, of course, have no 'appeal' process, and the car park monkey was just helping them along, getting my partner to send her address so they wouldn't have to pay DVLA 2.50 to get it.

These letters... it's all done by computer so don't take it personally when you get them, and whatever you do - no matter how tempting - never reply (they probably never read them apart from a desk monkey giving it a cursory glance). It then goes to Roxburghe - a shoddy, dubious debt collection agency - and then to a pretend solicitors called 'Graham White' (who are actually Roxburghe too).

The parking 'charge' notice is unenforceable and thus they will never take you to court. Ignore the letters. Use as loo paper (although most loo paper is better quality than what they send out).

Anybody being asked for money by these people: worry not, sleep well, and dream of the day when these bandits are put out of business as more and more people (like me) learn just how legally dubious their activities are and refuse to be cowed by their mail-merged threats.

I am actually on the Roxburghe band waggon. I received my second letter from them today after not paying an original APCOA "PCN" in late May. I returned their first with the word "VOID" on the document and a note that they need to pursue the driver and I would not divulge the name. Their reply ackowledged the "communication" and stated that I did have to provide the details and that the client would seek a specific procedure. Let them. I am the RK - and the driver as it happened but that's by the by - and for the purpose of this dispute, it is Roxburghe vs RENEGADE the RK. When APCOA muster the courage and stop using Roxburghe to change their nappies, then this scenario will develop. Until then, I'll wait. Strangely enough, Roxburghe cited two cases where people in my situation lost, one in 1983 and the other 2008. That's two in 28 years, a very high success rate I see! I'm on for bronze medal here. Surely that is an accolade too! They never provided a list where PPCs lost though, nor where they DIDN'T even take the matter to court! I think they'd need about a thousand volumes for this one though, not an A4 paper!

My problem is that I cannot resist opening these letters even though I know the sender from the address. I'm committed next time that should I receive anything from West Byfleet, it will be "SCAM REJECTED, RETURN TO SENDER" on the envelope.

That, or it may depend on which letter headed paper is in the printer at the time.

    YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!!!

One is a respectable debt collection agency and the other is a law firm whose staff wear shirts and ties. They MUST be different companies! :D:rotfl:
  • I was wondering if anyone can help me regarding excel/roxburghe/graham white? I've read a lot about these 'companies' on different forums and seem to get the same message - that they are rogue traders who will never take anyone to court. I've had letters from all three of them for a parking ticket that was issued to me in May (wrongly in my opinion and i appealed to excel at the time) - today i've had my second letter from 'graham white' with a final warning. Has anyone actually been taken to court in the end? There is no mention by anyone on these forums that they ended up going to court after these letters - so i assume nobody has but it is very worrying when i keep getting these letters. I'm also getting texts from Roxburghe still telling me to call them!

    Welcome to MSE.

If I wanted to take someone to court and felt that I had a strong case to do so, I would do it. I wouldn't spend months sending letters, making phone calls and sending texts telling them that I may do it - I would do it.

If I had no intention of taking someone to court I may well resort to continually contacting them in the hope they'd get so worried they would just pay up.

Which category do you think Excel/Roxburghe/Graham White fall into?

They did issue court papers a while back, funnily enough just around the time the OFT listed them to revoke their CC licence. The court hit the claim back at them to clarify the particulars of claim.

    It wasn't Excel though!

That's one they have had a go at and so far failed. There are hundreds if not thousands here that they haven't!!

It's been a year now since I first had a parking ticket which was refered on to Roxburghe and then Graham White Solicitors.

Initially I did what I thought were all the right things, I appealed to the ticket issuer, then Roxburghe took over so I appealed to them. It was rejected by both and then came the letter from Graham White Solicitors. It was only then that I did some research and found all this information. I wish I hadn't wasted my time with appealing as it was clearly going to make no difference!

I had quite a few phone calls with Roxburghe over the initial months (all before I realised it was a scam, and to make sure I answered it was from a different number each time) and every time I told them I would not discuss anything over the phone I want everything they say in writing. They refused this claiming that it is not their company policy to put anything in writing. I told them that in that case they can not speak to me directly and told them that I am seeking professional advice and can they add their name to my account and from now on direct all calls to this 'professional' - they refused to do this as they will not speak to anyone else regarding this account.

Now, almost 10months later I still get texts from them asking me to ring them urgently....

So, as someone who has appealed, fought, reasoned and ignored my advice would be to go straight to ignore.
