Yes I suppose that's looking at it in a positive way, I may even be able to offload the original tickets! Or maybe I could buy the new tickets for earlier train, then get up on the day and check the "Live Departures" to see if the late one is on time.

I could then get a refund on the unused later tickets!!!!!

Did think about the night before but have two little ones to look after so no option really.

    Thanks again.

Thanks Robpw2, I have searched endlessly, cheapest advance ticket yesterday was £55, today same ticket is £74, that serves me right for messing around! East Coast now want £94 to amend the ticket even though they are yet to be printed off!"

It's probably cause it's a peak train. Just double check on raileasy to see what the cheapest fair is before looking on the sites.

What about if you broke the journey by having a change somewhere that can make the tickets cheaper....? or is it straight down the east coast line you're coming?

You can get London CIV tickets issued by Eurostar by calling them. The advantage apart from their cheap price is that there are no peak time limitations on them and guaranteed connections - as far as I know you cannot get them through the normal booking systems as they are linked to Eurostar tickets . I would try this before going back to East Coast and still potentially having problems with late trains and missed connections.

Blimey, I've been done again! I went and booked the £55 before martindow post, now I look at CIV tickets and I can get it for £41 from there!!!

It really isnt my day is it. What exactly is a CIV for future reference?

CIV =Convention Internationale pour le transport des Voyageurs, an international agreement for European railway companies to look after each other's passengers if there are delays or missed connections.

Assuming you cannot get refunds for your booked tickets with an earlier train giving a reasonable connection time Kings Cross/St Pancras, Eurostar would probably be understanding if the worst came to the worst and put you on the next train where there is space. If not your travel insurance should cover public transport delays and missed connections. Neither would be sympathetic with your original 2 minute connection!

Hope it all goes well and you have a great holiday.
