They sound good. Can anyone tell me if you can do medium/rare meat in them (not chicken obviously lol) or does it all have to be well done.
edited to correct spelling mistake lol:hello:0 -
Well I'm sure you COULD do medium/rare, but I have never personally tried it
It's PERFECT for those things you might think of putting in say slow cooker but are either too big, will take too long or your SC is already in use lol
And if you like things to have bit of crisp (like the ducks I did for x-mas) then you just remove from the bags and whack under the grill for 10 minutes at a fairly high setting... super tender meat AND crispy skin
I'll have to have a look out for the bacofoil ones (in fact the size I want is between that and the standard one you get in tesco... so large but not XLMeans I can fit a large chicken in it easily
And no I don't think they can be re-used....DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

That is unless anyone can tell us different ??In the summer they do smoke bags, which are different, these are flavoured and give different smokey tastes to meat and fish, in my opinion, these are on the expensive side and there are cheaper alternatives which are just as good.

I bought up a whole load of roasting bags last January for a ridiculous price and I've used them to roast large joints and poultry. The one's I have can't be reused, but, I do confess to having frozen a large joint in one and then *reused* the same bag for roasting it in.
Used them over Christmas to cook the turkey and the beef (seperate bags) and my friends were well impressed; good job I took a couple of packs so they can use them as/when they want to
Mine are quite large.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At Christmas I bought some roasting bags from Aldi, and cooked the turkey in one. It said to put some flour in the bag, and shake the meat until it is coated, which I did
When I cooked the turkey, the bag turned brittle and disintegrated all over the turkey.
Is this supposed to happen, did I put too much flour in the bag, any ideas ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
The same thing happened to me - with the same bags
I usually buy the roasting bags from lakeland which are great and stay in tact however the Aldi ones (large enough for a turkey) were a disaster. I don't think you did anything wrong, I think it is just a question of the quality

If they went brittle and disintegrated then it means the oven temperature was too hot for whatever Aldi bags are made from. Does the pack specify which plastic they've used? Does it give a recommended maximum temperature? There are various transparent heat resistant films and laminated films which could be used, and some have a much higher working temperature than others.
I remember many years ago, there was a transparent oven cooking film called
LOOK, which was made from polyester film. One year by mistake the makers put the wrong oven temperature on their packs with turkey cooking times, much too high for the film's maximum working temperature! After Christmas you can imagine there was an outcry from all the families whose turkey had been covered in softened, and then hardened and embrittled film pieces0
