Roasting bags - anyone else use them?

I tend to get them over from Denmark (mainly because I can only find diddy ones overhere but they do exist :) ) and any roast chicken starts in one of these :) (my favourite chicken recipe is a large or medium chicken, juice of 1 or 2 lemons and 2-3 cloves of garlic crushed and then cover the chicken in the garlic and lemon and leave to marinade for at least a few hours - then in the oven in the roasting bag with all the lemon and garlic for however long depending on the chicken size - the chicken will fall off and it's pointless trying to carve it lol but it's so tender and moist!)
Does anyone else use these and if so what do you use them for?

Yep, my mum uses them all the time! Anything small that needs reheated in the oven goes in one of these bags - croissants, bread etc. The bags seem to stop them drying out. We don't do meat in them 'cos we're a vegetarian household but I have friends that do their roast chicken in them.

Although I do get in trouble sometimes when I get confused and use an ordinary sandwich - type bag instead of a roasting bag, which melts in the oven:mad:

I have bought them for OH in the past from Lakeland. They have different flavours.I did see some plain ones the other day, so I guess you could add your own ingredients. However they are quite expensive so its a treat rather than the norm.

That is unless anyone can tell us different ??

Well you can buy small ones in Tesco/Asda quite cheaply :) I "import" my larger ones from Denmark when people come to visit anyway or if I am over visiting :) I know the lakeland ones and yep they are quite pricey :S Will try to find a price for the Tesco ones later if I get a chance :)

I`ve never tried them but can you re-use them? To be honest I`ve never even thought about them.

My daugher uses them and she does some really succulent roasts. I keep on thinking to get some when I go shopping, but I always forget.

I use these too. I get them from Wilkis, they're 99p for ten (polylina), and big enough for a medium chicken and potatoes.
I cooked a joint of beef in one last week, and it was so moist and tender, it was the best meat I've had for ages.
I've also used them to cook a chicken fillet in the microwave with lemon sauce, so am going to be more adventurous with them now.
You can buy big ones for turkey, they're about £1 for two (bacofoil), if you're cooking a large meal.

Yes, I make sure that I follow the recommended temp. and time as stated on the bag. When cooking turkey don't be tempted to put the potatoes in the bag as the turkey juices will swamp them.
I buy my bags in the January sales and make sure that I have enought for the whole year - I would hate to run out as they keep my oven and roasting dish so clean.:j
