Morning folks, weathers brighter but thats about all. Hubby has no work, the down side of having your own business, and he is getting really down about it. This time of years is always quiet, but never this bad only 30% compared to last year. Trying to keep him positive but its hard going. My jobs ok so we can survive that if needs be for a good while.
Just been checking out my house insurance - its due 13th August, renewal came in putting the monthly paynents up by £9.80 a month - went on to the same company online for a quote. Same values etc - totally like for like and I am being quoted only an increase of £0.90, so the old policy will not be renewed and will take out the new one online. Just goes to show - its worth while checking things out!
Really fancy having fish cakes chips and peas for tea, never had this for ages, so I think a trip to the fishmongers is a must at lunchtime. YOu get 8 fishcakes for £2.40, so will use half of them and freeze the other half.
Courgettes have loads of flowers on them but they all look like 'male' flowers - hope the women hurry along soon or we wont have any courgettes this year! Having another planting frenzy tonight, to get the last of the salad stuff done.
Washing is done and out this morning, TD is finished airing yesterdays washing and the electric meter is read!Dishwasher is finished, and bins are emptied - its amazing how a wee bit of stress makes you get up and get moving in the morning!
Hugs to all those in need, and hope you all have a great Friday!!!

Hi, I have been using the River Cottage recipe for sour dough starter http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/river-cottage-sourdough-recipe

It took about 10 days to get it going and ready but now I just need to take a little out and add salt, water and more bread flour each time I want to make a loaf. I am going to try keeping it in the fridge for the week we are away (as Hugh FW says it will go dormant and will 'recover' when you need it again)!

    Morning Friends,

Its half term here as well. DS is going to Mac D's with his friends as they finish at lunch.
Not much washing today other than work clothes and Ds uniform but I might just throw that straight in the bin:eek:

It looks fine again, a bit overcast but hopefully will stay dry again.

We are out for a meal with my DB and SIL tonight so the boys will have leftover chilli for tea.

My eldest boy text to say they were loving Paris ooh la la, oh to be young and free.:D

A quiet wkend is planned, we have peas, cabbages, onions and carrots ready in the garden so will have a roast dinner on saturday and leftovers in wraps on Sunday.

Need to post some ebay sales and do some more listing, also need to vac the car out as its full of grass from the boys going golfing.

    Have a happy Friday all J x

    Morning hester and everyone else

Sunny here, so WM on and hope to get DS bedding done whilst he's away. DGS not coming here after it was planned - they think he's got a stomach bug, so at home again - not fair to pass it around, they think. Did a food stocktake last night, more stuff than I remembered in the freezers, so very little to buy when I shop tonight.

Started measuring all the doors and windows this morning, in case I see things in CS that I can turn into door curtains or curtain linings for the winter.

Brambles look like they're going to produce tons this year, so going to make space in the freezer and dig out my jam jars - will freeze some and jam some. Rosehips look the same, rosehip syrup methinks. Don't know if it's a sign of a bad winter coming, but if it means free food then I'm not complaining! :D

Time for a second cuppa, then finish measuring and off to CS. Have a good morning all, hugs and kisses all round.

    A xo

    Morning all!!

what a sunny day we have here! I'm off to work shortly, and not looking forward to it today as have to decide if i should tell my boss about my bad credit or let him find out himself. I just don't know what to do.

OH is having a late start so i don't need to come home and check on the pup - going to get myself a pre made salad for lunch as don't fancy l/o pizza - will have that for dinner.

Need to do a food shop this weekend so will meal plan tonight.

I am so glad it's friday!! although i'm hiding myself away from the world this weekend i think. Don't feel like seeing any one :(

Had a good sleep last night so feel quite lively this morning! Have already made most of the pasta sauce (need to get a couple more tins of toms, can't believe I ran out!), one of the throws from the big sofas washed and on the line and the towels are in. Not sure about the weather, could go either way at the moment.

Happy Birthday for yesterday Shalva - hope you had a good day.

Off to meet the girls for lunch so we can have a chat about our trip to Tallinn - anyone been?

Have a good Friday, hope the tears aren't too much for the school leavers. Take care. XX

    Morning All,

Up and at 'em this morning again, OH is at work, I have just cleaned the downstairs loo, and the doors in the downstairs hall (including the front door!) Somene take my temperature, quick!

Bramble tell your boss, it will be embarrassing but not as half as bad as him telling you. (I think the Americans call it taking a big girl pill :o ) xx

Molly hope Ragdale hall is fab and you both relax properly! x

Plan for the day is more sorting out, cleaning and decluttering. Hopefully I will find my phone charger, I seem to have lost it last night in the pile of washing I gathered in my room :o

Have a good day everyone, take care.

    morning!

just having a quick coffee before doing the vacuuming downstairs.
WM is nearly finished - dry here so far.

Need to do the plums and also some rhubarb later(out of the garden)
Also need to tidy the freezers and make a list as we're off to Iceland tomorrow to have a stock up on some basic stuff.

Bramble - I'd tell your Boss, you'll feel better to have it out in the open instead of worrying abut him finding out. x

Moorhen - have a great camping trip! x

Have a sore leg this morning, Mig our virtually blind old dog ran straight into me at full pelt last night while out walking, I didn't see him coming:eek: and it was very painfull and left me with a lump on it last night which I put some frozen peas on. Its a bit better today but still very tender.

Got to pop into town shortly to go to the bank and do a few jobs.

Have a great day all x

    Morning All

We have sun :j 2nd load of washing in already and have one more to do after that.

bramble I would tell your boss - better that you tell him than him finding out because it will make you look dishonest in his eyes. Mind you I have never heard of a boss running a credit check before???????

Cheapskate I have noticed that there are loads of berries this year too - And it is natures way of telling us that's a sure sign of a bad winter  we have a bramble at the back of the garden and we have already started picking the blackberries, so will go down a few country lanes at the weekend and see what we can find.
DH and DS are going to pick cherries, cherry plums and damsons this afternoon so that means I will be busy doing some preserving later.

    Have good days all x
