Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 22nd July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Sunny here this morning. Last day of term here today, the students finish at 12, the staff at 2 & us poor admin bods work our usual hours & sometimes a few extra. I had trouble sleeping last night, my hands ached all the way up to my shoulders, still they'll be a damn sight worse tonight. It was like a sauna in my office & I couldn't have the windows open as it was raining too hard, heyho. I shopped on the way home from work as I have to take something in for the lunchtime buffet (Jerk Chicken) & I'm going out tonight & need to take a pudding with me (Chocolate Cheesecake). I cooked/made this last night & it's all in the fridge ready to go.
Hubby's now working on Saturday at school again, so I'll potter round doing some housework whilst he's there & then we can both put our feet up for the evening.
Have a good day everybody.
Hugs Hester

Its actually NOT raining, may get some later, but atm its dry and breezy :j
Off to work today, but at least I can look out the window and see the sun, finish early, so not too bad, meatballs with pasta for tea, I suspect dd will cook, she is getting right into cooking atm, which suits me, now, how can I get her interested in housework and washing:rotfl:
Got another payment on Ebay last night, so will post that in the morning, need to make myself some lunch for work today, and I will puit a wash on when I get back, dd will tidy through for me.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning Hester, Shalva, RedRuby and all who follow.
Weyhey:) End of term:)
Staff and children finish at 2:30:)
Will take DH, 2DDs, DSIL and 3DGSs out to the local member of a pub chain to celebrate. My treat as it is lovely to get to this point and look forward to some more leisurely mornings:)
The sun is shining so I will get some washing out.
Dinner yesterday was smoked haddock fishcakes with salad and oven chips. Naughty but nice.
Feeling very weary, but hopefully the battery will start charging up again now. Hugs to all who are weary or have bd or need or want in any way.
Happy Friday folks,
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all,
Last day of term here as well.
DS and DD1 finished yesterday. DD2 and I finish today. She has a big leavers assembly this pm and I have managed to get time off to go to it.
This will be my last post for a couple of weeks as I am off on a camping holiday tomorrow, really looking forward to it.
Hugs to all that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
I have got work this afternoon until 11pm
went to bed late last night so that I could have a bit of a lie in since I'm usually ready for bed about 9 but I still woke up at like 6!
Went through some of the old threads for recipe ideas last night and have done a meal plan for next month, a shopping list for tesco for it, and this morning did my monthly budget so all looking quite good tbh
I like being organised but it so often just goes to s**t so I'm hoping that this new found organisation I've had since getting back from holiday (in sunny Borth) sticks... keep your fingers crossed for me girls.0 -
Morning allIts actually NOT raining
,
It's blooming raining here, and me and work kids are meant to be working outdoors today in a school garden (schools here broke up a week ago!) so I'm wondering how many of them will have mysterious illness today :rotfl: I've told em all I'm a dab hand at making bin bag ponchos!
Had some nice news this morning, the sister of my one of my best friends is coming to UK to visit and I offered to show here sights of Wales and she is going to come stay for a night. They are from New Zealand (my friend is the one getting married in Nov). Her sister currently lives in Canada, jet setting family! I've never met her sister but we have become friends via email so it will be lovely to meet her. Plus I'll know someone else at the wedding now!
Managed to pack 4 more boxes last night and hope to get more done tonight.
Have a good day all

Good morning everyone. Dull but dry here so far.
Just about to go and make my 2nd sour dough loaf. 1st one went down well with OH & the kids so been asked to keep them coming. HM bread is another thing I wished i'd started ages ago.
Going off on hols for a week tomorrow so will be spending the day getting our stuff packed and car organised. We are off to the Lakes and are planning an OS week. Taking the bikes and the majority of the food we need (bar some fresh things i'll pick up once we get there) and will cook in every night. Kids are very excited and don't seem fazed at all that we will be doing 'ordinary' activities like cycling, walks, picnics, paddling etc. OH and I are secretly excited too as it takes so much pressure off.....
Otherwise I will be finishing my ironing and giving the house a once over so it is nice for us coming home.
Have a good day everyone:j0 -
Morning everyone
Dry bright but chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Last day of school term here and DS2's last day at Junior school he moves up to the same Senior school as DS1 in September, going to seem strange - have his Leavers Assembly this morning at 10am, got the tissues ready to go!!
Will be heading to the scales (weight staying reasonably stable go up and down by about 2-3lbs). I would really like to lose another half stone or so but as haven't been feeling well not really being paying attention to diet etc. Went to the Docs again yesterday and she found the problem and sorted it there and then, apparently I've been very lucky, could have been much worse. I can't believe how much better I felt almost instantly and this morning feel so much better. :j:j:j
Have 1 load of washing on the line and another in the WM. Have done an on-line grocery order to be delivered later, so just need to go to the bank before the Leavers Assembly. Will be trying to do some cooking/baking this afternoon as the cupboards are bare, also want to get the boys beds stripped and changed. Will iron anything that needs it so I don't have that to do over the weekend.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good Morning x
Just a quick post as we are at Ragdale today. Having a lovely time so will catch up tomorrow xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
