bit silly for not even getting a copy and leaving the last job before you had it all in writingAlready replaced me in my old job, Job isn't there any more, they got me to sign the contract in the interview as they said it "saves me coming back" so they have the only copy, seems wrong that they can advertise a job takes someone on and is never actually there. Cheers for the responses.0 -
that long, why not apply online, took me about 10 minutes to do my claim and a few days later had a call to confirm details and ive me the appointment time.
Didn't know you could claim like that tbh!
went into the job centre before to start the ball rolling and told me ring the free phone number which they gave me, so walked over to use 1 of the 4 phones in there and was quickly told by staff that i wasn't allowed to ring the claim line from them phones!..given no reason why ? made me wonder what exactly that place is there for these days, you go in the place and all they try and do is try to get you out as quick as possible preferably without speaking to any of them!
So just got off the phone now at home after 35mins and theyve gotta call me back Monday to finish it, seriously I've never known a time like it for finding it hard to get work i was looking for 3 months before this offer and applied for 15-20 jobs and this one was the only response and that's with 10year experience own car and sia badged yet don't even get a response from the applied jobs, I mean in the current climate you'd think the security industry would be thriving!
Thought getting a response from a job seemed to good to be true! sickening result !0 -

in your opinion silly, but when your in the middle of an interview thinking of things like that can easily be missed, according to everyone on here it didn't matter anyway whether I got a copy or not so was irrelevant.
They could do what they want.0 -
have you seen this: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/EmploymentContractsAndConditions/DG_10027521
What happens if an employer withdraws a job offer?
If the offer's withdrawn before you have a chance to accept, or because you haven't met the conditions (for example, providing a satisfactory reference), you can't take any action, unless it has been withdrawn for reasons of unlawful discrimination.
However, once you have accepted an unconditional offer, and the prospective employer withdraws it, you can claim for compensation for breach of contract.

also if it was the other way round:
Changing your mind once you have accepted an offer
If you have second thoughts about a job you have just accepted, ask the employer to agree to let you go. Give notice as soon as you can - preferably before you start.
Your new employer won't be happy if this happens, and there's a possibility they may try to sue you for breach of contract if you don't give at least the amount of notice on your contract or offer letter.

That breach of contract sounds pretty good Ladymiss but i feel its sounds like a messy process trying to prove everything etc, i mean what's to stop them just destroying all the forms as soon as I accuse them of this, then its just all on the verbal agreement then, could be very messy, but then again what have i got to lose!0

I think breach of contract is flogging a dead horse, as it were..it's already been stated there is nothing you can do, they can legally give you notice before that start date.
Bit poor though.0
