My boy hasn't come back

My little man Jasper (cat) hasn't been seen since last night
I left food out for him this morning before I went to work and the food was still there untouched when I got home.
I am getting worried now as it's so unlike him.
He is fine with the cat flap and can come in and out. I would know if he'd been in because all the food would be gone.
Had a walk round the block tonight, just to try and make myself feel better, but I've never been so upset over a cat before and even hubby was upset over it tonight.
He wears a collar and his magnetic cat flap tag and is microchipped. I noticed that I can report him as lost on the petlog website, how long should I leave it before I do this?

I'm so sorry Jasper is missing. Cats do like to wander off sometimes even if it's not their usual behaviour
Report him missing now.
Very much hope he turns up soon xx0 -
Awww, any sign of Jasper yet?
Keeping everything crossed he's just having a bit of an adventure - my big lads been out and about most of the time this week (took me 4 hours to find him the other night).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thanks. No sign yet.

Have leafletted neighbouring houses, rang local vets, RSPCA. Reported him missing on his microchip info and put his details on a website called national pet register or something, where they have a section for missing pets.
Am going to put up a couple of posters on lamp posts here as well, but that will take a bit longer as they will have to be laminated.
I was lucky to even get the leaflets done as my printer is rubbish.
Am beginning to blame myself, as I took his litter tray away because we wanted him to stop using it because of the mess. He was going outside and then coming in to do his business, and then he disappears.
Hubby says he wouldn't have gone off because of that. I reckon that someone has got him in their house
Will just have to remain hopefull, but I am missing his terribly.
Oh and I am going to put an ad in the lost and found in our local free paper.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £18,886.270 -
Sorry to hear he's not back.
Your OH is right - he won't have gone purely 'cos of the tray.
However, when he comes home, please let him have it - many outdoor cats still prefer to come in and use a tray and it's often the first (and often only) sign that something may be wrong (ie more p'ing, less p'ing, blood etc etc) so although not the best job in the world, it can have it's positive side.
keeping everything crossed, you've done all the right things - the only suggestion I have is emptying the contents of your hoover over the lawn as this can help steer them in the right direction home if they're a bit disorientated.
Please let us know how you get on (((hugs)))Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Re posters on lamps - have you got any poly-pockets, I used these and sealed the tops with sellotape when my boy went missing a couple of years ago.
Worked fine & a lot cheaper.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

My Friday cat went missing one time for 2 weeks - I was mortified as I didn't think I would see her again
Then, one evening, she just turned up like nothing had happened and wondering what all the fuss was about! She was quite peckish, though not underweight or starving!
She then started to go on walkabout for a week or so at a time, which was a concern, but we were always hopeful of her return, and she always did
Now she is in the senior years of her life, she doesn't do it any more and barely even goes in the field behind our house, let alone go walkabout in the bush
.
So, I am sure Jasper will come home soon :T Fingers crossed

Oh Guy, that's a lovely story - sorry your cat "left" but it was sort of like she came back to say "hey guys, I'm OK" (she could've done it a bit earlier tho' lol)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Or you can just put the poster in upside down and use a tiny bit of tape to stop them slipping out

Lucy went missing a few years ago and we too had leaflets and posters everywhere. After five days we had given up hope. After seven day we got a phone call, they said "we have had a leaflet through the door, and does your cat have a pink collar (she did) 'cos if so, I'm looking at her now! She had got locked into a house three doors away where they had gone on holiday, she had snook in when they were packing the car. Luckily the neighbour had a key.
She'd had water from their plant pots but nothing to eat for a week. She had done one little poo under their bed (they were OK as they had cats as well)
She was spooked and strange for a few months !! She's now fine but doesnt wander !
Dont give up hope !!0 -
OP I noticed that you said your cat had a magnetic cat flap tag on his collar. Assuming it's possible, it may be worth leaving the cat flap in the unlocked position, just in case your cat has lost his collar somehow and can't get back in.
Hope he turns up soon...0
